I think trying to maintain the original colours as you saw them is a great attitude to have towards the wonders of Nature. They do not need any unnaturally boosted saturation--your dear little bird is an excellent example of this. He is perfectly fine as he was... I believe that future generations will look at the grossly over-saturated quite unrealstic colours that are so popular these days as a brief excess that accompanied the dawn of the digital age, and that eventually more people will come to adopt your original view. Don't give up--or give way to those who would change your natural inclinations! Even if they DO get featured on the front page...

Hi Rashed, I understand exactly what you are saying, but it seems you are missing my point, what I am trying to explain is, when I took this shot I looked at the bird the tree and the flowers with my bare eyes and I noted the colours and when I got the results on my computer I used PS to readjust the colours and tones to revert them back to the original colours I saw in nature, so although what you did may look nice but it doesn't match the original colours because simply you haven't seen them and as I said I always try to stick to the original natural set up and just do minimum enhancements using PS, unless I want to change my picture completely. This is what I have tried to explain also to Shereefa..Hope I made myself clear this time... Best regards, Reda.

Hi shereefa, I agree with you and you comment about the lack of sharpness and saturation that comes straight out of the DSLR Cameras, If you are not versed in PS or another post processing program you are handicaped, But I did want to let Reda know that the Canon 10D has parameter settings in the menu, the default is parameter 2 which gives you 0-Contrast 0-Sharpness and 0-Saturation In camera processing. you can change that to Parameter 2 which give you a more vivid photo with all the above settings bumped up for more of a film Camera look and less post processing needed.. Take care..

Well,, I like what you did (Rashed) Especially the background which became purely white.. The flowers are more punched out.. However I think you took out the reddish colours of the feathers of the Bird although you made it clearer.. I liked the crop so much especially thay it adds attention to the bird but it makes you think about what the bird is looking at?? Anither bird or any kind of fruit will look great but unfortunately we can`t control nature

dear brother Reda ,you stated that this is what you have seen and you do prefer it to be left as it is.in a matter of fact this is not what you have seen through the view finder at all,you have seen a very plesent and colorsful image but the camera have seen it different than you _ this image is what the camera have seen and recorded and this is not something to be a shame of at all.the value of your camera expouser has gone far to the background and measured the light there as it was more than the light falling on the subject .we usually do braketing and or measure the light to the subject and set our expouser "Reading" accordinglly. But again ,it is not a shame to correct all this in any of the avilable soft ware which is for sure as "Shereefa " hasa explained is your dark room today.the truth is, on the old days we did alot of that sort of work in The COnversional Dark Room with Films Processing or While Printing .for sure i did like the composition of this image alot, but if there is a room for improvment "why not we try to improve our works " and let be presented on its best form .please do not get angry with me Brother but as i like the best for my work i alos like it for you and for all the others, and we are all here to learn from each other ,if you go through my images on usefilm you will for sure notice that i have learned alot here and i did promise myself to learn more,3 days back one good friend did not like my image and i deleted it and reposted it 3 times ,"the third time it was ok and been on the first page on UF "this is how i did learn from my friends here.my dear Brother thanks again for your good nature and wish you all of the best now and for ever.Rashed

a very good comment indeed - I sometimes work on pictures to make a point and to get some practice. Would like the idea of some people working on the same pic and see what they make of it. It helps me to look more intensely at the picture too. One thing your boosting of colours does, is that the overall impression is less of a cold bird in the autumn - in the warm golden light it looks more like a bird in a sunset, and the thickness of the feathers does not give an impression of cold so much.

One of the disadventages of digital cameras is that the pale colours you get in comparison with film photoes.. The advantage is that you can overcome this problem by such adjustments.. It is still your photo and still original... Even films undergo some adjustments during there developing... It is your digital dark room and what you want is an eye catching photo.. Why not boosting the colours a little?? :) Hope I could convence you :)

Nice intimate photo.. I like the details of the feathers.. The white background adds alot.. However I find it a little flat and the colours need a little push.. I took the honour of adjusting it -if you don`t mind-.. Hope you like it...
