This is so very neat how the leaves have gathered at the base of the tree and the way the branches are bent. It looks like they figured the leaves were too heavy and just couldn't hold on to them any more. I can't see Margaret's picture as I can't seem to get the included shots to show up now. Happy New Year, Del. MAry

Thank you Dirck for you comment. Yes you are right about using a higher vantage point. In this case the tree was in some ones yard and there was no place I could find a higher place from which to film. I should have tried holding the camera as high above my head as I could and I could have achieved that effect to some degree. I appreciate your sound advice. Del.

Hello Del, how about reshooting this from a high vantage point looking down? I think it would look really interesting having the red leaves as the background, with the gnarled branches radiating out and over them. I like the subject and your eye definitely picked up on the patterns and contrasts - mine is just an idea for a different approach. :)

Margaret. What you did is clever, I had tried making all the back ground grass using the clone tool but that never really worked. By using smudge and blur you achieved a very artistic look. Perhaps it looks more like a painting than a photo but it is interesting and attractive. Thanks for taking the time. Del.

He Del it is lovely tree makes a lovely dome of branches and the leaves all around. You could blur/smudge the background - I went to town on the smudge LOL and then straightened it up - I think I prefer your version Margaret

That would be a tough one, Del, except to try and get the shallowest DOF you could, to throw the background out of focus. You might need a ND filter to be able to do that. It is interesting though, how the leaves are all in one spot under the tree. Do you know what kind of tree it is? Dave.
