I was about to join Dave Stacey on the fence, then he fell off onto the other side!
Both are nice and comes across differently. I'm bias towards B&W, so I'll go with that version.

Hi Eleisa, the site address is : http//www.theimagingfactory.com (I probably left out something earlier)

I roughly had a play with your colour image in imagingfactory. Then used PS's magic wand, feather, levels. Also Image/adjustment/selective colours = "'neutrals' black slider" for adjustment. Gained some of the over exposure but less successful with the under exposure.
My PS skills are pretty limited, generally, I try to do as little as I can get away with at post production

Have a go, with time and patience you'll do better then my effort

Hello Eleisa, the crop of squarish format suits this composition of the 3 flowers. The angle you took is unusual too. I wonder what the colour version looks like? In MHO, the b&w convertion tool you used may have let this picture down a little. Parts of the image are left over exposed (lost of detail in the clouds & upper right corner), while the lower portions of the flowers are a touch dark.
There's a convertion plugin you may like to try (theimagefactory) it gives better control then PS's standard tools for the job. Try the free download for fun, see if you like it.

Hi Maggie, I'm not sure 'why it doesn't move for your' either But never mind, its just a boring ole picture of rusty hooks on a wet rod. Instead, lets go around the corner and gossip over a cup of coffee - much more fun )

Thank you Eleisa. This did indeed have an award but I often 'spring clean', what you see is a reload.
Awards are but one single person's preference. There's no telling how quilified or unbias that person is. Don't put too much importance on them. You learn more from people's comments on yours and others work. Choose friends with care and you'll gain

Eleisa, this is a lovely portrait of the 2 children. The viewers eyes go straight to their eyes which as you know are the soul to portrait shots. I also like the slight sepia tone you've applied to the image. Very nice work.
PS - nice to have a new friend Welcome to UF.

Steve, it was just yesterday that I read a back dated Malaysian Chinese newspaper on your yet another international win - this one? The writer of the article was so very proud of his country's son....Congratulations

Becky, arn't you so lucky to live in such a beautiful country, especially BC.
This scene is the stuff postcards are made of. I like the angle you took with the island just off center. I'm sure in slide form the contrast between the light and shade give plenty of depth. Here, I think the lake needs a touch of lightening. I bet the turquoise water around the island will really pop then. Your poor red tree may be dead, but here, adds that drop of red for interest

I'm with Jeanette, the composition of the main is best. However! ....I prefer the darker tones of the 3rd version. Not sure if you are a cropping sort of guy, think the 3rd version will be nice in a squarish format without the background thingies.

Perfect sharpness with beautiful shades. I join the call for keeping the little guy - he gives the eye somewhere to land. If the clone tool is handy, I'd take out the drop of yellow in the corner

Yes, I agree with Josh this set of three are really nice Matej. The shades and tones are very nice and the milky, shiny floor/ground really pops! Of the three, I like this one the best. My first thought was wish there was a person in the frame...but there he is!! I wonder if you might dodge 'him' a bit so that he stands out more?

I prefer understated colours too Roger, and I agreed with you that a while back there was a period UF had a lot of landscape photographers who pumped up the saturation button - that's probably due to the reaction of in photoshop 'one can' so 'one does'.

As for film base saturation, I'm probably out of my depth here - I recall sometime back when Velvia first lunched the Velvia 100, due to the keen rush to try the new speed of this famous film there was none on the market. I got stock from Tokyo and was told that the 100 is a lot stronger in colour for the internal market then export versions. The boxes were clearly marked 100'F'. Up till then, it had not crossed my mind that different countries had different requirments where film is concern.

PS - Thank you for the nice comment you left me. I'll soon upload (when I find it!)a snap from Tokyo for you

Happy Sunday to you too Chris.
Looks lovely there, sunset in the background and summer colours in the foreground.
How quickly the seasons change...its grey and cool today in London, feels like a winter's day

Nice to be first in!!
Isn't fog magical? You've captured the fog in the distance perfectly. The softly there thin layer of mist on the foreground water is very nice too.
What are the couple of red dots on the grass I wonder?

Nice rich B&W tones that can only come from real film. The groupings of people is interesting too. I think I would prefer the main grouping to be slighly lighter for details in the shadow area.

I'm enjoying this series too. I have a soft spot for Urban decay shots......takes a 'seeing' photographer to spot gems in otherwise nothing places. The shades of sepia you choose set off the mood well. Nicely done Stefan.

Hello Roger, Don't know how much you cropped from the original, what's left here is still a near perfect frame. The flower colours are indeed rich but not so over staurated as to look bumped up.
(I wonder if you know that some colour films made for marketing within Japan are of higher saturation then the export versions? Apparently Japanese photographers perfect colours to be slightly richer. Just a bit of useles information

Hello Sarah, Touring through your lovely portfolio seems you have a special soft spot for roses - the love and care you take with them show through.
This B&W version is very sharp and the 'face-on' angle works well too. A slight lightening of the dark centre areas may help hightlight the water-drops, perhaps an increase in contrast will give the pop.

Hi Becky,
Sorry to hear you've had a rough year, hope time has helped smooth the rough.
Glad you're over the photographic 'block'. Seems most of us at some point or rather pass through that stage. Getting a new camera must help a heap too. I seem to remember you beating yourself up over film...are you finding digital easier?
The image is beautiful, the milky smooth tones give a dreamy feel. The far away tanker balances the bird in the sky perfectly.
I rather prefer Colin's squarish crop.

Yes, her lined face, the sad eyes express your title very well. I like the light to her left and even showing the details of her sweater. I would prefer to see the area around her eyes to be just a little lighter so as to see more of her eye expressions.
