Sam, I haven't tried that. I do most of my editing in Elements 3.0 and I don't think it has that capability. I do also occasionally use The GIMP, mostly for B&W conversions, and I suspect it does have that capability, but I haven't really set down to explore either program in depth. I'd much rather be out in the field taking the photos as opposed to editing them... Eric

Excellent image. The off center placement of the main subject is effective and the muted colors add to the mood. Even without the title the photo says it all. Eric

Fantastic long exposure. I like how the small aperture has tuned the car headlights to stars. As for the perspective distortion, I think it actually works in favor of this image by increasing the sense of drama and uneasiness in the viewer. Eric

George, Thanks for the comment. I was happy with being able to keep any of the contemporary crowd out of the shot, but most of the credit for the authenticity has to go to the reenactors. They go through great pains to be as correct as possible. These reenactors even went so far in their research as to discover that the 62nd did not wear regulation British Army breeches. Most British regiments with the buff colored facings to their lapels would wear buff breeches by regulation. The 62nd wore white breeches during the time of the Saratoga campaign that they are dressed to represent because they were cut from the army's old tents to replace the soldiers' worn breeches. They could not be issued with regulation breeches because the shipment from England had been captured by John Paul Jones a few months earlier. Eric

Sam, Thanks for the comment. The rings actually are correct for the period. One of the other Senecas present at the reenactment talked about them prior to the battle. The were called Jesuit rings because the French traders and missionaries (hence the Jesuit connection) brought them over as cheap trinkets to trade with the natives during the period of French colonization in Canada prior to the French and Indian War. They were very popular as trade items with the Iroquois and other northeastern tribes. Most of the reenactors are quite serious about being historically accurate and go to great lengths, and often expense, to be correct and avoid any anachronisms. Eric

Thanks Shane. So far I've been limited to either using the built in flash TTL or older flashes in manual mode. I'm hoping to pick up an SB-800 in the near future. Making all their old flashes obsolete with digital is probably my biggest gripe with Nikon. Would it have been too much to ask for backward compatibility even if the TTL wasn't perfect? It would still have to be an improvement on going back to manual mode with a PC Sync. Eric
