I like this shot -- taking a break in front of the art gallery. You have a great camera set up. You can be ready for anything with the 18-200. Sometimes I have to rent an even wider lens because the 18mm turns into around 28mm with the multiplier. I would love to go for a 10-20 mm.

Please don't blame my partner, Beppe. I believe the foot is in the original. I made the print and liked the crop just below the garment. The feet were in shadow so I blew it off, but you have a good point. I will have to look for the negative, because you are not the first person to mention this oversight. I am glad you like the "angelic" feel of it.

Hi Beppe, thanks for the explanation in English. My Italian is very rusty. In fact when I was in Italy, I got on quite well with my Spanish.
So, I am glad you like the presentation, but I am not clear on p.w. Does that mean you used something like PhotoShop to give a spotlight effect on the couple or burn in the vignette? That would explain why light did not spill into the background area.

Dear, Beppe. Welcome to usefilm.
Congratulations on this quite original photo - a sweet. intimate moment I have just rated 7.
I can suggest a few changes I might make to soften the effect of the flash and to reposition the couple.
I played with opening the heavy shadows from the vignetting of the flash and with cropping to remove some of the darkened structure that was distracting to me while bringing the couple a little closer and off of center.
Maybe it is better to show you the result. I hope this is helpful.
Best regards, Leora

Thanks, Petros. It looks very helpful. I liked your music, too. Was it on their list or did you have to search for it and buy the rights? I do not intend to use the same of course, but I am interested in the process.
I have been on the beautiful island of Crete and in Athens and since I saw your photos a friend of mine has traveled to Santorini and sings its praises. It is quite a hot spot and an attraction for weddings, apparently. You were the first to bring my attention to it with your exceptional photos.
Have a great day! Leora

Hi, Petros. I am back. Congratulations on your new website. I still love your Bill + Maya slide show and this photo is in my favorites. I am starting my blog soon with Blogger and was thrilled to see that you used it, too. And I want to have slide shows for different themes. Do you have any suggestions of a program to use?
Lots of luck, Leora

Accidents sometimes turn into the best shots.
We sometimes use portable strobes at the beach with models. It is a little more cumbersome, but someone can handhold a flash for you operating remotely. Have fun!!!

That is unfortunate, Martin, but welcome to the world of the "self" employed. Regardless of your current status as a photographer the effort you put into marketing -- with persistence -- is the key here. My first opportunity at retail ads came from a department store that did mostly illustration. They gave me a test and my first ad was for Christmas. I shaped 75 perfume bottles into a Christmas tree. The light hit in such a way that it sparkled like a Christmas tree and they were sold. A lot of work followed over the next few years, converting their advertising into mostly photography. Good luck comes with TPO -- Talent, Persistence and Opportunity.
Good Luck! Lee

Hi, Mark. Very intriguing. I would not have guessed. I think the grainy effect is because of low res, especially with so many diagonal lines. I could not get rid of it, but I did add contrast and lighten with curves just to see what would happen. What do you think?

Dear Dan, I love this precisely because of the people and the dancer's smile. You can see she is chilly, but amenable. The interaction with people is part of the fun for me when shooting in Central Park in NYC --- and if I want privacy I have to go out of the main traffic pattern. And if I need to stop traffic, I have to arrange that with the permit department. Then they will provide a detour. And as you found out, you can have more fun if you do not take things personally.
Best regards, Leora

This is exciting, Dan. She is really one with the elements and you have caught her at the height of her jump - the weightless moment. Have you tried flash? It is not usually allowed during a performance, but the dancers should not mind outdoors. Off camera can be very interesting and will not seem as flat.
Best regards, Leora
