Hi Dirk - I've been re-visiting some old negatives with a film scanner. This photo is from 1994. This little guy is now in his mid twenties and just signed a recording contract.

Amy - A plaid shirt, overalls and a straw hat?? That would be a totally different picture! He wasn't 'fresh off the farm', but rather fresh off the beach.

No, it's a cheap 'G' lens. I'm shooting at 1/1250 so shake isn't a problem.

I was about 25 ft. away, with my feet just in the water. These guys skim really close to the shore in just a few inches of water.

Thanks for your nice comments. I'm going to have to change the 'film and darkroom' part of my profile. It's been about a year since I went the chemical route. I just bought a film scanner for my negatives, and I've just about given up on using my darkroom. I'm trying to translate 20 years of printing experience into Photoshop skills.

It took about an hour from scan to posting. I'm still learning about Photoshop, and it was trial and error at first. I've done about 10 prints in the last few days since I got my scanner. I'm using basically the same techniques that I used to do with cotton balls and oil paints - lots of very thin layers of different colors built up over a warm sepia toned base.
I want to get a graphics tablet. That would be a lot easier than the mouse.
