Hi, Larry,

Thank you for your comment.

The photo was taken near St. John's University, which is about an hour or so west of Minneapolis.

As it happens, I was born in SU, but have been living in US for many years.

Very well composed panorama.

Is this a composite of several photographs, or a crop?

Nicole,

This is a very interesting series. All three photographs remind me a lot of the early (1920's, Mary Pickford) Hollywood photography, with its hot light sources and high contrast, coupled with softness introduced by lenses that were in use at that time.

I like these photos a lot, keep it up!

D.

P.S. There was an album published recently of Mary Pickford's stills, you might want to take a look at it.

Hi, Ian,

I am very much enjoying your movie and the story you're telling.

Your panoramas are very good.

Great photo, and looks very good in black and white.

Hi,??Ndc?, and thank you for your comment.

The "grain" is in reality a digital noise resulting from high ISO speed (1600). It was further accentuated when the picture was sharpened in photoshop.

And yes, I chose not to remove it to add to the rustic feel of the picture.

Hi, Ben,

The grainy look is a result of a high ISO speed, 1600, and was not added in PS. Once desaturated, noise started to resemble grain.

I like the colors and the mood of this photograph.

I think that it possibly can be improved by adding more of the surroundings to show that this picture was taken in the holy place, justifying the title.

Good and funny photo! I like it a lot.

It is very well done tecnically also -- colors and contrast are right on.

Hi, Craig,

I like this photograph. It is well composed, and the colors complement it very much.

For me, it is a bit nostalgic -- when I grew up, this type of scenery was very common.

Although I am not a bit fan of computer enhancements, in this photo it works well.

Hi, Adrian,

Thank you for your comment. You are correct, the picture does not tell the story (the full story, anyway). His little shop was so small and cluttered that I had a hard time pulling back enough to capture the surroundings.

Thank you, Louise,

The lesson was conducted in the gentleman's living room lit by a few shaded incandescent bulbs. So there was not much light control. On top of that, I brought with me a rather heavy lens, that even wide-open did not allow to get shutter speeds above about 1/90. There was no place to set up the tripod, hence a lot of camera shake.

I had a chance to come back again and shoot some more photos. Second time around I brough a much lighter lens, which allowed for better results.

Hi, Lena,

This is a very, very, good photo.

I like it a lot, especially the texture -- it is rather unexpected, and enhances the picture a lot.

The texture does not appear to be a PS overlay, how did you do it?

Hi, Sonny,

Thank you for your comment.

You are correct about the pasta definition in this photo. The colors and contrast was adjusted to be printed on the specific paper type that was chosen for box labels. These adjustments unfortunately did not reflect favorably for the on-screen viewing.
