Hi, Kim. Nice to see you still posting here, and a fine image to show. With your baby pictures I thought you had taken to more urban landscapes. I remember a Tatla lake, west of Williams lake, on the way to Mt Waddington. There was a helicopter pilot living there, and he had this great outdoor biffy, ha ha.

Very nice image, Brigitte. Unconventional framing works well here....

Nice to see you still post here, Kimbalini. I like the soft feel to the man's skin. Tender moments.

Thankyou, Kim. This was taken at the top of the Going-to-the-Sun highway, in Glacier National Park, USA. The goats and deer there live life surrounded by cameras and tourists, 6 months a year. I think the ungulates benefit from this, as large predators like wolves, wolverine, and even grizzly stay back when challenged by the overwhelming tourist crowds there. This guy didn't even flinch when my obnoxious EOS3 shutter let loose. Like you say, with my wide angle lens, I could have touched the antlers.

That's an eyecatching foreground, Dave. Are you using an HDR technique to pull up the shadows? Cool you avoided flare. Do you live up there?

Hi, Tony. This is an interesting viewpoint. I get the feeling that there is more to this photo than meets the eye, evoking vivid memories for those who were there. In a way, I think that's why we take photos, as the experience is more than a two dimensional page. Sometimes the photo suggests more than there was, and other times less. In this case the thumbnail doesn't grab the eye, it doesn't do the photo appropriate justice.

I really like the old men in the background, with the attractive woman on what I presume is a horse. On my moniter it's a little dark, though my laptop moniter isn't calibrated. Cutting her face in half is an intriguing twist, with offside placement a unique choice. Breaking rules, indeed.

Yeah, a brilliant macro. Strange how it seems to have two separate areas of focus. Is this a composite of two separate photos, or did you selectively blur distracting detail?

In any case, the isolation of the insect head, and the isolation of the nearside texture is captivating.

It's not often a goat will allow you to get above and so close. That's a choice spring image. Is this taken 1/4 mile above the top parking lot on the Going-to-the-Sun highway?

Thanks for noticing, Mike and Anne. It was fun to practice with the photoshop 'pen', for isolation of layers.

Hi, Kevin. Haven't seen you in a while but I stumbled across your portfolio and gave it a look. This photo has great eyecatching qualities on the thumbnail. Sometimes I find that I can ironically judge my own photos better if I view them small, as it offers more clarity as to balance and structure. Big or small this photo is a fine winner.

Thankyou, Mitra.

That 15mm gives an optical illusion on screen, with your eye seeing a pincussion photo, to try and warp the horizon back to straight.

Excellent sharpness, good background, even a catchlight in the eyes. You may be surprised to learn that we in North America would not know what this bird is. Our 'robin' is a very different bird.

Way to capture the moment, Stephen. To me that's the key of street photography, to be prepared, and to actually see what you don't expect.

Hi, Todd. Glanced through your portfolio today, again I find it very impressive. Found your website. I didn't know you do professional photography as well -- that site is well done, too. Gotta envy somebody who has the luxury of coincident work and play at the same time.

Brilliant leading lines. Looks like you used a photoshop effect on the flowers, nicely done. I would have liked the subject to still be sharp, maybe masking your subject differently. Creative self-portrait.

That's a funny comment coming from a psychologist (grin).

By the way, I glanced through your postings this evening. I really like the other photo, your B&W self portrait at the top of the page. Couldn't comment directly on that, so I leave thoughts here. That's an excellent photo, Jon. Great lighting, drama, crisp B&W contrast as well. It's just a coincidenct I'm leaving a note on your turkey photo, ha ha.

GREAT photo. Adventure, with the kayaking jacks and sunny days.

I've always been amazed at how those little Olympus cameras go places you wouldn't take anything else. So, how were you blessed with a third hand to hold on to everything?
