nice picture, needs fill flash to fill in the detail in his face. Always use flash or a reflector with people outdoors.

Benjamin, this is a superb shot; his character comes right out at you. (By the way, I'm from Brooklyn and went to NYU--never saw this guy, but sorry I missed him).

Maybe the graininess of the image is related to a high ISO setting? Higher sensitivity means higher oise usually. Check if the ISO number of your camera can be adjusted, if so, choose the smallest number. You might need a tripod because the shutter time will increase. To reduce the noise in thsi particular image, you may try a post-processing filter (NeatImage seems to be a good one, you can download a trial version from www.neatimage.com)

Nice character shot; I'm a little disappointed that his face is underexposed. That's the one weakness I see.

Good shot, Benjamin. You've got a fresh eye for things here. After 36 years I don't even SEE some of this stuff any longer! I taught for a while (who hasn't) and I loved the kids... I hope you're having fun here. Thanks for your kind comments on my photos. I notice lots of good things in your portfolio since I last looked. Think I'll hang around for a bit and enjoy...

It's a great shot! I don't know where the graininess is coming from. is it in the photo or the scan?

Well done! I wonder what software you used? Some make stitching much easier than others... If it's too much trouble, that's a disincentive to take more. I do less stitching these days, more shots with special-purpose panorama cameras...

Benjamin,

I think this scene is screaming to fill the lens. At this exposure there is nothing of interest in the upper or lower thirds of the photo. You need to get closer on this image. We can't see what sort of characters inhabit this scene, just that they're there.

Benjamin,

I would have stopped the lens a bit more and gone with a longer exposure. I just don't know how long the Coolpix5000 could go. When I shoot "car trails" I usually like to go for about 30 sec at a small aperture, and focus on the lanes moving away, so the taillights paint long paths across the film.
