Hi Ben. There are about 9 photos in this piece. I wanted to build up a picture using only shots I had taken in the past.
This is my first attempt at digital art so thanks for looking and for your kind comments.

Fantastic shot. Great title too...obviously a Soundgarden fan.... , and congratulations on the web sites. I aspire to take photos of the quality that is consistently portrayed in your gallery and on your sites..really amazing stuff. This is what I want my portfolio to look like...amazing shots like yours. Kudos.

Absolutely stunning. Nice strong foreground, leading the interest through the shot onto the glorious horizon and the crystal clear sky. The coulour int he sky is quite amazing from one where you think it should be blue, but here has a green tinge that keeps you interested. The whole shot looks cool (as in temperature), but you can almost feel the warmth of the sun on your face. great.

What a piece. This is really good. I agree with Femke that this is strange indeed, but it is something that you keeps looking at it and trying to figure out what the picture is about and what story is being told here...whether the viewer of the man in the street should be threatened by a stranger, or should it be symathetic to a homeless person, etc, etc. Very compelling. Congratulations.

Great shot. I like how you have created movement for the eye to run from the bottom right hand corner, into the middle of the picture and then up again to the right. Love the colours in the sky as well. Well done.

What an amazing photo. Texture is like velvet. I commend you on how you were able to see this shot when you came across it. Such a simple composition but works so well. Very soothing.

Thanks James, Jason and Russell. Russell, at first, it was totally trial and error, given the fact that first time at night when taking a shot on the Tv setting, the camera could not get an exposure. From there I knew bulb was obviously required. When I took the first shot at night on bulb, I opened the aperture and just held the shutter open for a measured time. After reviewing the photo I adjusted the time accordingly. I try to remember what the light conditions were that first time and given what time was required for an exposure then, I estimate what I need now based on that. Other than that initial estimate, it is just trial and error and viewing what I get after a given time on the camera...lucky hey. I make sure I give myself heaps of time before the sunrise to ensure I get a few photos to make sure I get it right.

Thanks heaps guys. When I was over in Perth, there were bushfires just out of the city. The smoke drifted over the city during the night and as such may have contributed to the colour int he sky.

Hey Jason. You are right, there are so many different great views for the city that I'll be posting them for a while. I wish I had taken a few more shots of Freo. If you do have time when you go over (you lucky bugger..) make sure to get a couple of shots of Freo at night with the old buidings and maybe down South Terrace.

This is a fantastic shot. The detail in the front is an important part of this picture along with the blue and orange complimentary colours. Very pleasing to veiw and would be proud to display as one of my own.

Thaks Kelly, Tugce and Russell. Russell, the exposure on this was about three minutes at f/3.5. It felt like it was really dark out there, however after the long exposure, the ambient light really shows up.

Terrific shot. I love the expanse and the solitude that this capture exudes. A feeling of lonliness yet survival is portrayed to me. I know these shots don't come easily and I am not being critical of this shot, but I can imagine the subject ibex set more to the right of the shot to allow the rocky slope to continue down to the left of the shot and maybe if the time was right an inclusion of a lone star up the top right hand corner. There is beautiful colour in the sky and the animal is caught at just the right time. Great work.

Really nice portrait. I love the colour in the hair obviously which anyone would. The only criticism is that she looks a bit cold due to the goosebumps on her shoulder. I suppose this was due to the wind that is blowing her hair around. I like how you have included the blue tinge in the backgoround to contrast with the orange. I would be interested in seeing how this would look with a stronger sky blue as background. Top stuff.

Nice effort in the close up and very attractive subject. There are a couple of dots around her left eye that could be cloned out and mabey clean up the straggly bits of hair at the right and left side of her head. Nice personal shot.

Thanks Marcus. I took a good look at your portfolio and I just want to say that your bird shots are absolutely spectacular. I am flabbergasted at how you are able to get so close to achieve the detail that you do. I have had a couple of tries in taking a shot of some wildlife around home and just manage to scare the things away and me cracking the sads!!. I am very interested in knowing how you achieve these shots. My favourites are 'Side by Side', 'Time to Go', 'On the Run', 'Up close' and Great Egret' and I will be voting these separately. Thanks Marcus.

Thanks Kelly, Van, Russell and Dado. Russell, this shot was taken from Arthur Head on the south mole looking towards Rous Head. There was a pier there that cast the shadows and in zooming in to crop where I was standing, it made it look as if it was elevated, but I was grounded.

Hey Jason. Thanks for your reply. The first thing that caught my eye when passing this area was the play of the shadows on the water and I wanted to capture this, as such it was intentional to leave the negative space in order to make sure that the eye moved around rather than just a standard composition. I look forward to hearing more of your comments.
