Karen,
I was just reading your comments on this one and you mention that you thought it might be too dark. I would just like to say that it is fine! The skin tones are very good and you have a nice balance in your grey tones. The light might be just a little bright coming through the window, but even that is okay for the situation. The texture in the boy's shirt is fantastic. The detail in the chair, table and his hair are all very good.
If you are planning to do a lot more B&W you could do a lot worse than use this image for a reference for yourself.
Well Done!
Andre

Sadly Kay he did not show up. I felt a little guilty taking this he was so sad. I drove him down to his grandparents the next day to cheer him up.

Thank you Glenda. I was worried it looked a little too dark but looking back on the older photos this looks better. Thanks for pointing that out.

Nice natural light, I've looked at your other photographs and your getting better with your B&W tones! I might have turned the chair back a little but very well done.

Hehe, I LOVE this, it is way to cute! Such a good idea (I actually did this type of picture once, but with my puppy, haha!) She is such a cutie though, I want to squeeze those adorable littel cheeks of hers! This is an awesome shot! Great work!

Thanks Kay They did not turn out as well as I had hoped. The sun was very bright that day. My mother-in-law was helping with the other kids and I had to do it right then or loose the chance.

Even when they look RED, they are still adorable... and I bet she is the Pink Princess at your house! With that beautiful dark head of hair, I am sure she looks great in pink. I played with the shot and converted it to BW here for you. Did you get my email, BTW?

Kay,
I was wondering why she looked so red. She was pretty dark after she was born but it is hard to remember even just 5 months ago and these photos seemed extreme but you are probally right and she was that color. She is more pink now. Pink Princess

Thanks You Ferran, I learned something new in PS that will come in handy. It amazes me the options PS has. Most of them I have never tried. I was going to ask you how to do this but then I just looked for it and played around.

Sweet! She sure has a lot of hair! What a cute little face...a lot of people only do newborn shots in black and white because if the redness of the babies skin. I kind of like it red- shows how young she really is.

Very sweet! One good thing you can try (if you haven't tryed it already) is to de-saturate only the reds.

best wishes,
ferran

Karen:
Nice to see a fellow Georgian on UF. I am from Hartwell, Ga. in North esat Ga. I live about 400 feet from Huge Lake Hartwell, which extends to two states.
So I see these scenes like this often. Some of the happiest days of my life were fishing with my Friends and with my Dad.
Very nice Photo
