In your series your tones and exposure have stayed consistant. I like the composition and good clarity of this shot.
Now I'll get in trouble, the image I haven't commented on appears to me to be to busy, tones and clarity are very good though.

Wonderfully seen and composed. Simple, but dramatic all the same.

Michael, I am unfortunately having "issues" with my PC at home....thus, no UF communications. Plenty to say, though. If you have a chance, drop me an email (pruehair@comcast.net). I appreciate all of the positive comments that you have left me, and I'm struggling to find the time and place to respond. ...Brad

Lily, Thanks for the rating! It was a real foggy day actually. I could not wait to grab my camera and drive to the best place I could think of to photograph it while it lasted. The cemetery was close. The only photoshop was the sepia tint. I shot this handheld at 1/119 at f3.5 and 100 iso. This version was shot with the ?normal program? exposure setting. Thank you for the comment

Spookiness captured perfectly! I like the misty look in the distance. a 7.

Just realized this is the same camera I have. Is long exposure the only special thing you had to do? Wondering how you achieved the foggy look.

Thank you for the suggestion, I?ve been trying to keep the post processing down to a minimum, but I?m slowly being convinced that I should lighten up a bit and post more digitally altered photo?s.. Thanks Alper

Paul, good point, for all intents and purposes, there is always and I mean always police presence within shouting distance anywhere you go down there. there?s more police cruisers then taxi cabs.

Absolutely love the atmosphere Michael. The fog with the snow is so unusual and distinctive. The varying contrast and tones are excellent. An exceptional moody capture.

Michael, Michael, Michael....You sell yourself far short. We are ALL photographers. When I look at some of the work posted on UF, I am not only impressed, I am often left feeling like "I could never do that", or "I could never be that good". It's easy to fall into the trap of comparing ones self to others, using # of views, or ratings, or awards (or lack of....I've never received one). The bottom line is, I feel like we all have our own unique touch (yeah, this is WAY up there on the corny scale), and each of us gives our own individual perspective through the lens. Nobody sees things exactly the same. Sometimes as I'm looking thru my lens at something that I find very cool, I wonder who else will? Perhaps nobody....maybe many.

This particular photo is absolutely riveting. Again, you have succeeded in two areas; the technical skills are abundently displayed. The fact that you have the bright background (not necessarily over-exposed) with NO border or frame, is brilliant. It provides the feeling of large, open space....like you are there. It is PERFECT for the outdoor hunting scenario. The gray and black tones are full of detail. The crop is very effective. Secondly, the subject matter is almost Norman Rockwell'ish. The relationship between father and son is captured with a thoughtful, warm touch. It's all there...hard to describe, but all one has to do is spend a few moments looking at this, and you feel that relationship with ease and pleasure. Your perspective....shooting angle, and timing here is flawless. THIS deserves an award, and I feel fortunate to view this fine work. You should recognize your talent, and when nobody's around....give yourself a little pat on the back!

Randal, if I would have got that picture back home and pulled it up on my screen and noticed a human silhouette, I would have frickin jumped out of my skin too! But thanks for the idea, next foggy day, I?m going to have to bring a assistant with me LOL
Thanks for the idea and comment

Brad..?I'm looking for Bela Lagosi to peek out from behind one of the headstones? I literally laughed out loud when I read that. Thanks for the comment. I?ve been trying not to use any photoshop at all, not even recroping, but when I saw this in sepia, I had to go for it. I tried it inverted also? talk about over the top creepy, I might post one like that just for kicks though.

The sepia's good -- it adds a degree of warmth.
I also like the contrast of the trees and the stones -- the hard, geometric stones, and the rounded, organic trees. It looks almost like a battle is going on between two concepts(?) world-views(?) worlds(?).
