You are very optimistic, Len. It is 7 years and we have no replacement. Too many factions - like building the tower of Babel.

Thanks for your comment and insight.

Interesting post. Maybe in a few years' time you can get a good shot of the replacement buildings to put alongside this little slice of history...

(It's so long since I was in New York City that I have no pictures of the twin towers because they hadn't been built!)

Nicely captured expression (rather enigmatic, as the title suggests) and lovely subject. I firmly believe that content is more important than technique and you may not have had time to plan this - but if I may comment on the nuts & bolts: I think it would have looked better with a wider aperture (to narrow the DoF and make her stand out from the background) and a shorter exposure (to avoid the slight movement blur of her eyes and hair).

Best wishes, Jonathan

I found this photo in my archives and started cleaning up the sky. It occured to me what was missing - a bubble protecting the Towers.

If not a bubble, then an enlightened government and intelligence force that could pre-empt the destruction of the Towers, or better engineering and design of the Tower's structures, not tied to cost efficiency.

It gives me some comfort to remember the many times we enjoyed the Towers from near and afar, like on this particular 4th of July.

LMAO... yeah I know the nagging feeling...eh.. I used to call it mini lab factor.. they always crop off a bit all round the image so you have to step back one pace and take the shot from there so that you get it all in when you get the print.. mind you on second viewing I think the hint of nipples thru the dress makes up for the lack of feet... great body there ;-)

Dear Roger, thank you for such thought provoking comments. I guess I lost the feet for a reason - can't remember. It is my fault and not the photographer's, because I made the print and scanned it.

Now, you will have me looking for the negative. I am very critical of my own feet, because I use professional models when I do shoe photography. Enough to give a person a complex.

What a great lot of photos you have posted. I will be delving into those 73 pages for more gems.

Cheers, Leora

Thanks, Jorge. Of course, that is true. I am a fan of magnumphoto.com and photojournalism - it is where I started. And I admire many of the great fashion photographers - Guy Bourdin, Helmet Newton, Irving Penn...

But there are many surprises on UF. I have noticed that some of the photographers here are also on Photo.net and there is a much bigger viewership there for some reason.

I am working on video projects mostly these days. Editing, animating and compositing with music is very exciting.

Bye for now...

Sure we can learn something from here, but there are other places where we can learn better...and whit the real masters of photography :)
Try www.magnumphotos.com .

Luckily, most people do not go away, they just get busy. Even if you are not uploading there is a lot to be learned from UF.

Good Luck!

I agree that the quality is great, but I have not been so active myself. So when I came back recently, it seemed a lot quieter in terms of views and comments. Possibly my own fault.

Well, the Uf is not the guilty, its the best link of photography i ever met, in funcionality and quality of photos, its just that i dont have more portfolio to insert, for a long time :)
And when this happens, i also dont visit it much.
You have noticed people abandoned UF?
