Did you get a new camera, Mary Sue? The colours are great... green and yellow are always such a great combo! Weird for me to see sunflowers in December! (although I was outside today and saw that a new rose had flowered! Vancouver weather is so weird!)

Hi Mary Sue,

The contrast between the cool tones of the background and the radiant colour of those petals is beautiful, and I like the unusual angle as well as the closely cropped composition. Also, the shadowy light (changes in light intensity) work well! I think capturing the flower from a slightly different angle, showing a hint of the inside would've really make this a winner! Very cool shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

I like the sharp small petals and the way the short DOF allows the large petals to become less distinct, a sort of fade-out effect. I would, though, have liked to see the very near petals just in front of the sharply focused petal's also be in focus. By that I mean that all near/small petals would be sharp while more distant/larger petals would fade out of focus. But this is only the smallest critique and obviously a matter of personal choice/taste. This is a truely lovely shot.

I saw this and thought 'wow, nice...that looks like a photo I saw on here when I first joined by a guy who's name I can't remember...Sai I think it was'. But it's not, and it's different and amazing. All the different tones of blue and gradients...wow. And it also made me realize how long I've been visiting this site!

Keep it up!
