About Roseate spoonbill, Lake Martin, took this image on March 18, 2006. Haven't been back out since (my Mom fell and broke her hip so we've been busy.) I heard through friends that the spoonbill and other nesting birds have left and no one knows why, the Nature Conservancy is "looking into it." Hopefully the problem will be corrected and they'll come back next year, it's very sad.

I would like to say hi to everyone and apologize once again for being so far behind on commenting, it's been a little crazy here! Mason broke his ankle and is in a cast for a month but the GOOD news is that Krystal is doing really good!! I miss all of you and hope to be back soon. Take care my friends and thanks. Darlene

Wow, you have been having problems.I hope eveyone recovers soon. Great photo. I hope the birds come back next season. It would be a shame to lose them and even more of a shame not see them through your photos anymore. Cheers, Ann.

Darlene,
First, sorry to hear about your Mom and Mason, I hope that they recover soon. I actually made it out to the lake last week to also find that all of the birds had gone and after talking with some of the other photographers I was told that someone went in the rookery with an air boat and spooked all of the birds away. I counted five spoons and just a few egrets on nests, It was a terrible site to see all of them gone especially this time of year. Also glad to hear that Crystal is doing well also.

I am delighted about Krystal's news, that's just wonderful. I'm pleased to see a posting from you. However, the rest of your package!!!!!I do hope your Mother is getting over her fall and although a worry at the time I hope Mason is getting 'mileage' out of his spill:):):) I was off for a week sweetie with connection problems and catching up is difficult to say the least.

I was saddened to hear the bad news regarding the nesting birds, I do hope ther is a remedy. Excellent capture of this couple though with your usual finesse. Beautiful colours and stunning details in their plumage as they have what is sure to be their version of a kiss. Well done my clever Darlene..I hope all family matters are soon resolved. Big hugs and best wishes coming down the line at you......Ray

A great image to come back with, Darlene! Sorry to hear about your Mom and Mason, though. Must be the season for broken bones, my Mom broke her wrist a few weeks ago, although she slipped on ice, which probably wasn't what happened to your folks! Glad to hear Krystal is doing well, tell her to keep it up!
Dave.
