I know what you mean Stan. You know what they say, there is no bad weather for photography, at least.. just different weather.
They really do give you the impression that they are very intelligent animals, just like their reputation. They aren't called "sly foxes" for nothing. A few years ago we had a Mother Fox and her kits living under our deck out in our yard. When the warm weather comes, I go out on the back deck to have a coffee and toast in the morning. One day I heard some faint meowing sounds coming from under the deck. Then, the female fox came out and strolled to the farthest point of my backyard, sat down and watched me eating. The sounds from under the deck continued. The fox and I went through exactly the same routine every day for about a week. Then one day she brought her brood of about five kits out with her to the same spot in the back yard. She never took her eyes off me until I got up to leave. I actually watched these little foxes grow up before my eyes for about three weeks. They came out when I did like clockwork every morning. and went back when I went back in the house. Then, one day, they were gone without a trace. Never saw them again. Funny how you miss something like that when it isn't around anymore. Andre

Andre, here in Montana I never complain about our 6 weeks of hot weather. never seems to be enough. I know how the foxes disappear when they wise up about us humans. I usually see them early in the AM here in Montana. Always a beautiful sight!! be well, stan

Thanks Riny, I get a lot of enjoyment out of doing this kind of image, as I'm sure you do with your butterfly images. It is just so rewarding when everything works out nicely. Of course, there are many deleted images along the way, but if one out of a hundred comes out like this one... I'm happy with that. Thanks again. Andre

Thanks Stan. In a few more weeks we will be complaining about the heat. :) And this little guy will be keeping well out of site. I was very fortunate to get to shoot him at this vulnerable age. Andre

Hi Kes! How are you? Haven't seen you around for a while. So many regulars seem to have left the site. I'm still plugging away at my wildlife images, with a few other bits and pieces thrown in every now and then. I got some great shots of this little guy and his two brothers/sisters. Of course the Mom wasn't far away. It seemed to me like the Mother Fox was teaching the Kits to hunt. They were sort of mock hunting. having a ball pouncing on leaves and sticks, wrestling with eachother and generally having a great time. All good stuff for me and my telephoto lens. A great day! In this image, he was most likely teething by chewing on some dry sticks. I remember my dog used to do that when he was a couple of months old and loosing baby teeth. Talk to you later. Andre

Nice shot Andre! Hungry enough to eat a stick, apparently. Do you think it will harm the rain forest? Most likely. Then all humanity follows in doom. Oh well. And how are you? :)

Beautiful candid of the kit. great timing and luck to catch such a nice moment!! Snowing again in Montana this AM. The Meadowlarks are still singing as the snow comes down. Best of both worlds. Spring song to go with the white coming down. Great lens too!! Really great details!! be well, stan

hi Andre,
this image captures the moment at its best like no other imagined intention could do. despite the little presence of other elements/ apart for the main subject/ the branch, one can easily sense the crisp visibility and humidity (after rain perhaps?). the puppy fox in the centre of composition, in its sharpest detail and faithfulness to tonality, highly emphasized by the great DoF/ focus accuracy/ metering etc., contribute to the purity of its posture, thus dominating the canvas in a cutest manner.
the time you shot seems to be ideal for the white background that outlines the subject/ which in itself gives further credits to subject- giving rest to the eyes, to stop and smile with it.
cheers, v.
