Thank you for the vote of confidence, and kind words Ed! My technique for shooting hummingbirds is very different from my "on-the-fly" action shooting (either sports or fast wildlife). I do most of my hummingbird shooting from a tripod, occasionally with electronic flash(es)on stands, almost always with no technological assistance from "custom settings". After the set-up is complete, patience is my next best friend.
I'm gonna keep trying with the hand-held motion shots, but this equipment is getting heavier and heavier every year! ~smile~ Thanks for enjoying my stuff. -john

Great shot J.

Not sure what you meant in your comment to Teresa. This is a great flying motion shot. Although I used the auto function for all my vulture shots on safari, I have had mixed success with the "sport" function on my camera for catching birds mid-flight, so you might want to give that a try if your camera has that function/mode.

All the best,
Ed

I think its just magnificent that you were able to capture this. My head is just in a blur watching them when they go to a feeder. I can't imagine trying to catch up with them and have an excellent photo like this occur (for me). Just brilliant. I'll keep peeking in time to time.

Well Brit, suffice to say, I have about a hundred shots of this guy and his mate. It is an extreme challenge to get this kind of clarity. It's also a little pricey since I prefer to do film shots. I've tried doing these in digital, but so far, not so good. I'll keep trying, if you keep looking! It turns into a real "cat and mouse game" that quickly becomes very addicting....... Thanks for your attention!

Wow. I love the color. The flow and movement of the wings is beautiful. Must have been a tough pic to capture. Very well done.
