About 100% straight shot, no cropping. These bubbles are only 2-3 mm wide. This is just shy of 300% normal size. The subject is an Abalone shell. So much for my cute name/riddle. I don't think anyone is getting it. In any case to get the colorful hues I wet the shell. The small pool of water collected bubbles in some regions... hence the bubbles.

Well, maybe it's because I'm easily dazzled by fine composition and great, luminous colors, but I think you're photo's gorgeous, Jim. I can't think of a thing I would change. Well done!!!

Jim,

You have some really nice colors going here, also really nice patterns and texture. Great job!

Hugo this is the interior of the shell. At first glance it appears silvery and has a dull shine, but when wet it has an incredible prismatic luminosity. This is an extreme magnification of the interior of the shell.

Hi Jim, a very intriguing photo. And a difficult one to critique on. I think the top left corner does add to this photo (even stronger, I think it makes it, as it adds to the feel of depth and dimensions) The bubbles are another very good point of interest, as it places even more questions on the nature of the subject. Even though the tones give a more definite clue, it's still beyond me what I'm looking at. A submerged shell of some sort? Superb textures, and a very well composed image.

cheers,

Hugo

very nice colors of the abalone shell, its like the mother of pearl shell. The colors are fantastic and you did a good job in composing it with the diagonal line and the bubble that seems to be flowing upwards..

The intertwining colours in this are fabulous. It is intersting because even though there is a diagonal flow which would usually track one's eye in that direction, I find my eyes wondering all over your picture. Perhaps I am looking for a focal point, but there is none--which somehow really adds to the appeal of your composition. There is something very pretty to see in all parts of this. Superb.

Very Nice! The color is breathtaking. The bubbles are interesting at least in as much as they are not uniformly over the entire surface like you would expect if the subject matter had been placed in a clear, carbonated liquid. I'm a tad distracted by the upper left. On the one hand, it adds interest. On the other hand, either the colors make it seem like it or it actually does have some focus issues. I love the shot and thank it's outstanding overall though.

Doyle I
