About This is a late morning view of "Phantom Ship", an ancient relic of a volcanic cone, at Crater Lake. I'm not sure why this image has grown on me, but I think it has to do with the trees. I like the framing they provide, the texture and even the color with the moss. More of my work can be seen at http://www.artbeacon.com/jmg-galleries/ if interested. Thanks for your time and comments.

Location is just stunning. As you say,in your area never are lack of stunning places to get wonderfull pictures. The place is great and you choose the best angle and did an excellent job.In my opinion, full marks for your work.I must add, I like your portfolio, full of realy great pictures.
I no way I felt or I will feel offended with your words. You?re educated, polite, have a genuine interest to help, have opinions and are able to put them out in good words.Besides, you can speak and present critics, because it is obvious you can do excellent pictures. So, please, if I gave you that idea, I never was , neither are offended.I only like to discuss my points, maybe I discuss with too much energy...
I understand your point, but I?ll stay in mine.In that pic, in Vila Viçosa, in my 19" flat monitor, the cross is as perfect as possible, no loss of detail.I use undersharp mask and play with controls and stop at the point I thought the best.Anyway, please feel at ease to make all your critics to my pictures...I?ll fight like mad to prove my own points. But in a friendly way, please trust my word.
Regards
jorge

I like the rich saturated color.

Saw your comment on my Yosemite photo. I took it around Christmas, one day after a storm. I was lucky.

Nice shot Jim. I actually live a couple of hours NW of Crater Lake (Eugene, OR). Using the trees for the framing looks great...

I agree that the use od natural framing enhances this image. The white clouds offer good separation with the hills standing out from them. Beautiful saturated blues in the lake.

I like the composition very much. The only suggestion I have after the fact is that a version with a darker sky might've been interesting (by using gradient or polarising filter). I find that the light (and color) on the trunk on the help brighten the mood considerably.

Jim, Thanks for your comment, your honesty and critisism is highly apreciated!; the digitalised version is not nearly as good as the negative and print, but I'm having troubles with my scanner lately. Any suggestions on how to despecle without loosing the sharpness? and clarity? I may have over done it with the Unsharpen mask and the short shuttertime freeses the waterdrops of the fountain, but you are right......:(

Excellent shot, I do see that this image grows on you. Apart from the low contrast in the trees, it is truely an awesome scenery. The moss and texture in the tree is a subject on it's own. Very nice work!

Cheers,

Hugo
