About An old shack weathering away in a field.
I always like the look of weathered barnboard. Colour, sepia or B&W it always looks good to me.

Thanks very much Mary,
Yes, I do love the wildlife and nature images. But, I pride myself on trying my hand at many different kinds of images.

Earlier this month, I was fortunate enough to be able to go to two beautiful Photo exhibits in Toronto. The Ontario Art Gallery had a fantastic Edward Steichen show that included so many of his famous portrait images from 1926-1933.
I could have spent hours looking at those images.
Then two days later, I went to the Royal Ontario Museum where they had an exhibition of Vanity Fair Magazine's photography from the early 1900s till present day. Again, fantastic and very inspirational. There were many great photographers represented. My favourite images were the ones by Annie Leibovitz. Absolutely amazing portrait images!!
Talk to you later.

Hi Richard,
I didn't forget the race!
I recorded all the sessions and watched them in the morning. It's going to be a very interesting season. The results just go to prove what I've been saying for years. At that level, the drivers are all so close in skill level that the car makes the difference. Funny how Button has been a bum for a couple of years in the British press and now all of a sudden he is back to being a golden boy. :)

Hi Andre. Who would have thought I would be more busy in retirement than when I worked. I am going to try to become a regular again by summer, Who knows if I can find the time.
Yes those old abandoned structures are hard to resist. Whether rendered in colour or bw, the lines and the textures make for a fine photograph. Or maybe it is just because it is part of our heritage, that we are attracted to them. Either way, keep shooting and don't forget the first F1 race is this weekend!

Thanks Richard.
It's nice to see you back for a visit! I recall you had posted a few images of old Ontario farm structures in the past. I can't resist this kind of thing either.

Wow, that's wonderful. I know what you mean about the weathered look. Be it wood, or stone the effective use of texture can be a powerful tool in the photographer's arsenal.

I don't say this often but now I must say it! Wow! Is that an image! And the title fits completely and perfectly!

I am myself a big freind of those deep, mature, rich colors, but this one must appeal to all eyes, Andre! Perfect definition and such a complete and finest representation of the texture of the wood that starts decaying. Seeing through the gaps is another plus here as it adds some almost complementry color, and also space "behind" the whole structure. We know that it must have been a wall, somewhere in the woods something. It looks like that, even if it is not really this way. So the image generates its own kind of atmosphere. Much of that kind of remembrance about what "could have been".

The restriction of the DoF works also very well. It emphasizes one area but doesn't completely neglect the others. The tilt seems to be just demanding that.

I really have absolutely no suggestion for any bettering here. Perfect work!

I know exactly what you mean about old barns. I like the angle you've chosen and the way there's a change in the texture through the window and gap.
Regards, Gary

Thanks Dave,
There is always something fascinating about old barn-board for me. There is a strange beauty in this kind of thing somehow.
