General Info:
Surfer: Andrea Tonini
Location: Fiascherino - Lerici (SP) - Italy
Date: October, 24th, 2009

Strobist Info:
2 Nikon SB 900 camera center top, shot through an umbrella. We choose to shoot with two units tied together in order to increase the available volume of light.
SU800 on camera activated the flashes

Setup info:
We build up a steel structure, put it on sea floor and mounted the armchair over it. The frame was taken with tidal wave incoming in order to hide the supporting structure.
The flash units and umbrella were mounted on a stand hand held by assistant climbed on a ladder also put on sea bed (check out the full gallery to discover how we did it).

Thank you Mimi!
Glad you liked it!
Yes we use the lastolite ezybox.
It is absolutely great because:
- it packages itself in a very little bag, easy and light to carry;
- it is equipped to allow its use with small hot shoe units too;
- it provides an execellent quality of light, soft and gently diffused;
- it allows better control of light spill than using an umbrella.
Regards!

Yeah you're Sunset Man! I marked the wrong country for Fiascherino! I don't know if there's one in the U.S. but the location where we had this shooting is definetly in Italy!

Well at least I can catch you on one that is wrong unless there is a 'Fiascherino' in the United States that I don't know about since you marked the Country where the picture was taken as U.S. at least with our Flag! :))

Thanks a lot Sunset Man!
It was definetly a costructive critic! We chose not to crop the pic in order to put the main subject as much as possible inside the landscape and the enviroment. I agree with the "Presentation Border" which adds a touch of elegance...

Actually water was not so freezing! We're having a hot winter till now...

Cheers!

P.S. I really hope I didn't 'Burst Your Bubble or Sink Your Ship' with my honest and constructive critique because I really do like the basic idea especially because the water must have been absolutely freezing this time of year of there! :))

First of all I thought there was a 'typo' in the title when it possibly should have been 'Self Portrait' until I opened up the thumbnail! :))

Anyway ... A great set up as you dictate, but the composition is all wrong in my opinion which should have been a Square Format' instead of 'Squeezed Vertical' so let me show you what I mean with the attached.

Additionally, I clarified the image besides the much needed cropping and then added a simple 'Presentation Border' ...

Hope you like it even better and please do give my Best of regards to the 'Crew' who 'Engineered' this!
