ahh yes - you've certainly got much more background interest than I got. was that photoshopped on after the event, or did you use the flash to expose the cow and retain the background?

looks quite an old cow with the grey nose. good expression too.

here's another of our herd...

Many thanks for your comment, Pat!
I didn't use much in the way of 'effects' but I did change the background, including the sky!!
I probably did a bit of digital 'dodge' and 'burning' too.
Kind regards, Chris

AWSOME! 7++++ I would definatly try and sell it to Pink Floyd. Maybe it would encourage them to put out a new album. Please tell what effects you used. Great color, great detal, great DOF. Nothing negative to say about this one. You should be very proud.

All that work in PS was a mooving experience, I love cows and it is so cute, I am always drawn to their eyes which are so nice. The framing is nicely done, well done - Richard.

Neat image! I think it might of been better to have all of the steer's ears in. (that sounds funny doesn't it) It's one of those deals where you should either crop a lot or don't crop at all.
But still I like the image! Good work in PS.

Moo eh!

Great piece of work Chris from the composition to the finished image.
) Cheers, Bob.
PS: I can't build cows yet in my 3D lab!

I'm especially partial to good cow photos, so maybe I'm prejudiced, but I LOVE this image. Wonderful effects used to great advantage. One quibble: do cows (with tagged ears) really qualify as "wildlife"? ;-)

Thanks for the comment, Ken. I took this in rather a hurry, but checking back on my PS browser I discover that I took it at 1/24th of a second at aperture 3.0 at 7.58 in the evening. I then replaced the rather drab, washed out sky with a rather more colourful one, sorted the levels, beefed up the saturation in PS7, ran a high pass filter over it, (which I then blended in 'soft light' mode), and then added a fairly straightforward frame. Hope this helps.
Kind regards, Chris.

So very cute and interesting image! Cute because of the funny expression and interesting because of these nice effects you added. It feels a little bit tightly cropped on bottom and sides, so I think to equal that it might be better to crop just a little bit even on top.
