About
I've been taking sculptures in Tokyo for the last 18 months or so and this has to be one of the oddest. It commands a major road junction near Tokyo station.
Gabriela, it was a kind of enamelled metal, I believe. VERY odd. One of the excesses of that never-to-be-forgotten "bubble" era. But "young?" I can probably give you 20 years! Although well past the age of retirement, my three boys are all at university, so I have to keep working, and indeed will be working all day and most of the night over the weekend to meet a very tight Monday deadline. No photography, alas!
I must say this looks cute, Roger! What was it made of, metal or stone? If I were as young as you are and roaming around so much as you do, then...well, I might meet my giraffes! What are your plans for the weekend, any shooting expeditions? We would have gone to Shinjuku Gyoen (saw it on TV last night, looks gorgeous!), but my husband has to attend one meeting of the condominium administration today and another one tomorrow! My goodness, these people are keen to preserve the "mura" system! Hope to hear from you again! A big hug to you! Gabriela
THanks, Neil. I would have had to go back at a different time to see that. This is a bit out of my way, and as it was I had a very rushed lunch hour trying to fit this photo in. Not my usual "leisurely" style at all. It's not great shakes as a photo, but it IS an interesting subject...
