Halloween day in Michigan. It looked better before I compressed it to 300k & 640 x 427 but nonetheless. The sky is washed out but that?s typical of late October here. Cold, overcast and about to rain. Typical landscape though, I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for looking, please critique Thanks
This is a beautiful shot. I noticed that your shot needed some contrast adjustment. The levels/curves seemed right on. I also sharpened your image a tad as it seemed a little soft possibly from a file resizing. Composition wise I thought this looked better as a more extreme landscape. I think having the horizon/water line at the half way mark is fine as it helps highlight the reflection. The sky was rather uninteresting and grey. Including it really didn't add anything to the image in my opinion. Great colors. See the attached image to view the changes... I hope this helps.
You did pretty good in terms of composition. The colors are good, not great. I think you do need to wait to get a good photo. The colors will definately look great with proper lighting, ie. dusk.
A very lovely capture at a time of year that I love. I think if I were you, I would try a little fill flash to lighten it somewhat, since the beautiful red foliage of the trees is a bit too dark to really enjoy their beauty. But a lovely capture nonetheless, especially the wonderful reflection. Regards.
