Becky - the normal lens is attached to my G3 camera with a lens adapter (necessary for just putting a filter on this camera) plus an inverting ring - a little adapter with male threads on both sides so that the filter threads for the lens can be used to attach it. It is a pretty inexpensive thing (I got mine from Adorama), and if you have a normal lens lying around it is a cheap way to go. For any extreme macro, the depth of field will be very limited however (as you noted in this photo). Everything you want in focus has to be in the same plane +/- a millimeter (or less).

I too, saw fishes (either that or a really cool-looking underwater plant). This is great - sometimes an intriguing abstract is all in the crop. The colour in this photo is overwhelming and makes me wonder if I shouldn't convert to digital after all. I also think the focus is perfect. I really like the progression from sharp at the bottom to soft at the top. I believe the "eyes" are what's important in this photo; the one on the left is perfectly in focus, so I wish the one on the right was just a bit sharper to match.
I think I'm enjoying your inverted lens macros just as much as your refractions! How are you attaching an inverted lens to your camera?

LOL on the fish...not sure if I'd seen that if I had not read the comment...smooshed kiss! Those 'eyes' are marvelous, look like jewels.

The intention with the crop was to create a nose between those two eyes. I never saw the fish before, but it is quite obvious now. Thanks for your reactions to this photo.

Wonderful image. I was not sure what I was looking at until I read your description. At first glance it looked like a couple of fish in a passionate embrace.

Cool form the thumb I thought it was 2 fish LOL. The eyes almost look like they were added latter. I like the use of D.O.F as well where the forground is super sharp.
