About Here's what the 35mm lens made of the same shot taken by the two panorama cameras. The shadow area was a bit too dark... apart from that I like the rendering.

Chris, I get through about a film a week on average (36 shots in standard format or 21 in panorama). I'm pretty mean with shots--don't "bracket" and need plenty of time to decide whether I think it will make a good photo, and only press when I do. This habit springs from my poverty stricken youth! My hit rate has gone up since I joined Usefilm. It used to be only about one in ten that even *I* was pleased with, now I'm hitting one in two or three. This all helps me to make use of my Usefilm "quota." Film costs about 500 yen, developing costs the same, and so does scanning to CD-ROM, which I use to save scanning time (the quality is good enough for the web). So 1,500 yen for 36 (or 21).

My, you must get through a lot of film, Roger!!
Do you do your own developing? Is film cheaper in Japan?
Nice shot, but the rocks are a little light for my liking.
Kind regards, Chris

Rob, they were already hired by the park authorities... I have pretty well standardised on Fuji Superia. 800 ISO for the TX-1 (lens 45/4), 400 for the Bessa (35/2.5) and 200 for the Widelux (which has minimum exposure of F/11 and 1/250th., so I can't use anything faster out of doors without a neutral density filter). Just recently I've tried a couple of rolls of Kodak film but I'll be sticking with Fuji.

In mid summer it hits 100% humidity and 100 degrees F, Debra. Just about now is nice though. Typically mid to high 70s. Come June and it will be rainy season. High temperatures and lots of rain. Fungus grows on shoes, mold on linen... It was a very bright, warm day.

Did you also hire the two persons to stay there for comparison? This one is better overal indeed. I havenot looked at the film specs but I imagine that is equivalent to the ones used in the panorama camera. Rob.
