The interesting thing about the softness on the left side: it's such a sudden transition that it actually seems to pull the eye over to that section of the image, at least in my case. It's a cool effect but I feel like it's pulling the image in two different directions.

About soft edges.
The softness on the edge of the frame as well as the muted colour is done post production. I will often soften the edge of the frame to draw the viewers gaze more directly into the image, to look at the scene through my own eyes if you like. I like to treat the edges of my photographs as if they were part of our peripheral vision.

Hi Mark,
I like the composition and location, but I think the softness is a bit too much. Is it postproduction? Nice series on the factory and hospital.

Very cool. I love the contrast and muted colours. The blurring of the edges concentrates the eye on the center of the image, kind of like how our eye works in reality.
