Hi Chris, just back from an overly-long biz trip. Nice to be back on Usefilm - I couldn't believe the number of freinds photos that had accumulated. A nice surprise indeed! This shot really benefited from the Spracklen Glowing Edge treatment. The textures are wonderful, the subject is great but above all I think the composition makes this shot into something great!
Well done and my best wishes, Patrick

Hi Chris; yes, this really is a nice take. The child exploring the great big beautiful world under the watchful eye of (probably) mom. The foam and gentle surf are nice as are the shadows. Nice seeing my friend. Cheers. Craig

A lovely capture, Chris! Even if very cold, it's still many warming ingredients and nice happy feeling! Lovely mood, great details and very sweet little child movements!

Thanks for the comment, Carsten. I used my favourite PS filter as follows:
Duplicate the background layer?
Apply the (filters, stylize), 'glowing edge' filter at levels of around 1/20/5?
Set opacity to around 80%?
Set blend mode to soft light?
Adjust levels on background layer to taste?
Flatten image.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Chris

Those shadows and reflections are intriguing and like you say the more you look the more you see. A lovely winter shot Chris.

You are right - the more I look at it the more I see... Wonderful how you create a gem from an ordinary scene we have seen many times before. First, camera point of view is different. Second, long tele brings mother and child and water together. Third, the element water is shown extremely subtle - would you reveal your technique ? PS filter or handcraft ?

Great effect - looks like soap suds and a giant washing machine. I can just image how the little one must have enjoyed the outing.

Great human interest. You can just see the wheels turing in this little person's head. Beautiful water. Don.

Great multi-layered (pun intended) shot. The effect of the post-processing on the waves and foam makes them look like an oriental painting. The tension between the kid's curiosity and innate fear is reflected in the contrast between the reflections and the shadows. I also sense a similar tension between the mother's natural protective instinct urging her to stop the kid and her desire to give the kid room to learn and grow by allowing free rein.

Sorry for the long-winded comment. Great lighting, composition, and post-processing too.

That water looks cold! I like the reflections and shadows cast, Chris, plus the detail in the water and foam is great!

Very nice picture Chris!
This scene is really charming, one you do keep looking at! (and at least the foam is white, not icky looking) LOL

Those reflections of Mom and baby are great! She would have loved to have this one for her wall!

Simple and nice Chris,
Lori ;)

It's a great shot...and yes! there are alot 'in it'...

The effect you have added makes the reflection very 'oily'..I like that.

Kind regards
Merete
