Thank you very much Anthony, I was very happy about this photo. I keep learning more and more about photography and editing and can't wait to get some more good shots with the D70.

Oh my goodness Erik - THIS is spectacular. Sun's rays hit trees and mist in subtle ways, which you captured in this wonderful image. Lake and distant mountains add beauty. Very very fine photography indeed!

Thank you Carsten, I really like the blues standing out in the photo and how the rays and mist stand out as well, thank you for the idea's and playing, I've been looking at that photo and playing with some filters for a while now just learning and trying to imitate your's and Evelyn's ideas.

An arcadian scenery, wonderful composition and lighting. Agree with Evelyn that some work on tones would not hurt. Maybe Evelyn`s version is looks bit bold, I tried a simple color dodge blended gradient mask for the foreground, followed by a slight enhancement of shadows with the shadow/ highlight tool in PS (and reduced midtones a tad for more haze). When you work on your pictures always do so on copies and leave your original intact somewhere. I always leave a copy of the original on my background layer as well and sometimes if an effect is too extreme I simply reduce the opacity of that layer. It is fun to play and can be labor intensive but what I did on yours was quick. Have fun! There are some other terrific actions you can pick up from that site as well -- all free.

Holy Cow, that is a good bit of work, I haven't really worked with layers much, but I'm going to look up the velvia tool and play with that a little and then work thru the rest of your steps to see if I can get close. I love learning new tools and toys.

It is difficult to know where to draw the line when it comes to filters and such. First a ran a quick action called Velvia (saturates/brightens colors) that I downloaded from a web site http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm I have not checked which filters are used for that but the result was nice and then I selected your center area with the fog and made a new layer I set on screen effect and feathered the edge of that layer to mesh nicely into the rest of the picture. I also burned in the top, left portion of the sky a bit for added contrast. Of course, if you simply want to enhance the fog and leave the rest alone the dodge tool works nicely.

Wow, I did try to bring out the colors a little bit , but didn't do much, your's really makes mine look dull. Something I really do like about yours is that it seems to really show the haze above the ground that hadn't burned off yet. Which filters did you play with to make this look?

Hey Erik -- I was thinking about this pic and wondered if you play around with Photoshop at all. I took the liberty of enhancing the colors and "accentuating the positive" here with filters -- perhaps I overdid it a little but you get the idea? What do you think? Do you prefer the raw reality (which I hasten to say is lovely!) Or do you like the added drama?

Gorgeous scene! Sure would be nice to sit an a deck with that view and a cup of coffee and watch the morning unfold. I like the rays of light and dark and the swath of high clouds. The curve of the river is calling for a day on the water, exploring the wilderness.

Nice shot with the rays streaming through the clouds! The clouds look great and I like the shape of the river below and how guides the eye from front to back of the image.
Well done!
