About I don't know what these flowers are, but they were growing wild at the ocean's edge. If anyone knows what they are, please let me know!
Minimal DOF used to pull them away from the bg.

Soooo pretty and delicate. The mini DOF is perfect for this showcase. Fabulous idea and great color captured.

Thanks Mary Sue... I will post the other here as well and see if others have an opinion. I think the original still grabs me as the top kinda starts the swirl that eventually leads your eye down into the flower, but I can see the beauty in the square format as well. Perhaps something for a triptych.
BTW.. when can we expect some new images from you? Flowers are blooming! *grin*

I've looked at this a few times, and it really grabs me each time. The deep rich colors are so intense that they are almost intoxicating.

I played around with the image a bit by scrolling up and down to crop it slightly at the top. What do you think of the image if you crop off about the top 1/4 of the image...to just below that little group of yellow flowers at the top. That really isolates the sharply focused blossom, and the bg still adds a diagonal element.

Anyway, every time I view the image I find myself doing that...maybe worth playing with if it interests you.

Thanks for the comment Dirck... they DO look like candy corn (god how I hate that stuff!)
I agree that the darker green would have made for a better background, but I just couldn't manage to get that shot without comprimising other things.
Thanks for the comment!

Perfect minimal dof...like that you gave us one to orient our eyes with. The colors are lovely, very impressionistic look...lovely...hugs :)Linda

Beautiful deep, rich colors! I like that you chose just a single flower to 'represent' them all - with the rest singing backup! :) A shot taken just to the left and up a bit would be nice, too, placing the flower more sqarely in the dark area... (this is known as a 'jealousy' nit-pick! :) If I can find out what these are called I'll post it - they're the colors of candy corn!
