About I really need opinions of this one... I've argued with myself whether or not I should even post it... is it too flat of a composition? Is there anything there that makes you look twice?
Thanks for your honesty!

You're good. You're very good.

I have to take a better look at your pictures when I have the time. (Not right now =)).

Kindly,

Adrian

I like the reflections of the trees on the surface of the water. Maybe I would crop it larger, but it is not flat!

I too was surprised by the tilting trees. This too seems to have a bit more blue to it than I would have expected. I like the quality of the water but I think a shot with ripples would have been an interesting variation.

I love this it is definitely worth posting. I think the captivating part is the reflection of the tree trunks in the quiet water and the mist over the water giving this moody picture a trace of mystery. It is very similar to a wood lake picture I shot and posted here a while ago without the element of the mist. I think the problem with those shots are the trees with their needles presenting a too unquiet, puzzling impression due to the confusing complex pattern. I liked my shot only, when I underexposed it a little darkening the green, perceiving it less confusing afterwards. May be you try this on Ps and see if you think it improves it. Best regards Jörg

I think it looks lovely Kim, of course you could add a few man eating sharks and a motorboat or two but it looks very serene and a wonderful place for a picnic :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Well I think it's quite beautiful, Kim! There's some beautiful detail in the boughs, not to mention the gorgeous blue-green color. I'd say it's a very tranquil and calming image, but it does maybe lack a defined point of interest...

Well if you had thrown a small pice of rock in the water and build some vibration that might give you a subjest, it would be much better. It also looks too crowded.
Nonetheless, its a very nice photo.

Hi, this is a really nice shot, nice colours and reflection. Everything the other two said, but for me I find that it is missing something. It's a nice scene but I think it needs a more solid subject, say a nice golden retriever over in that dark area by the shore :-), or a deer (which I realize is hard to order up!).

Having said this I probably would have posted it too had I taken such a nice looking picture.

Cheers! Marc

It is not at all too flat. Indeed it did draw my eye back, when I realized that the transition line was a line of reflection. A feel of quiet mystery in that dark wood near the coast. I can't say that I noticed the slight tipping of the apparent horizon, and even in retrospect I don't find it a problem. However I also have come to know that an apparent tipped horizon in this situation may be an illusion, based on the assumption that the distant water edge is equidistant from the plane of the film. The trees are all not exactly vertical, and I like the fact that the brightest tree is not exactly vertical -- bent over a little in a twisting effort to find sky.

I know what you mean. You like a picture but you just can't make it pop. I think this is a nice scene - reflections are always nice. Not a show stopper, but nice. I do have one problem with it however, it is not quite level. If you look at the water's edge it's a tiny bit higher on the left side of the picture. Apparently I have had a real "thing" about this ever since it was pointed out to me - so much so that I went out and got a tripod with, not one, but two levels on it. I took the liberty of rotating your picture 1.45 degrees counterclockwise to straighten the water's edge. See if you notice the difference.
