About I shot this in June of this year. The last time I was here was in 1970. I had no idea if this place would survive untouched for all these years, but I just had to find out. A cooperative family of beavers has manged to keep their dam in good repair so the little spring can provide the water that forms this pond can stay contained. I could find no other sign of human visitation, so I think this place has remained undiscovered. It takes a bit of a hike to get here, but it is well worth the effort. I'll keep the location to myself until next summer when I'll bring my son up here for his first visit. I hope he keeps it a secret for his life too. I shot this with my OM-1 instead of the OM-2 so I could lock up the mirror. I used a tripod and cable release because of the very slow shutter speeds. I also metered this with a Gossen Digisix and bracketed in both 1/2 and 1/3 stop increments using 1/30, 1/60 and 1/125 shutter speeds. I shot the entire roll from this one location, and this is the one exposure I thought was best. PS for cropping and sizing only.

Wonderful photo George! Such great color and saturation! I really like that film you used...to bad, as you mention, that it is no longer available!

You are so right Shawn, the best film Kodak ever made (IMHO) is gone forever. I've got eleven rolls left, sitting in my freezer. When it is all gone, I think I'll put on a wake and get drunk. Next year I'll shoot this place over a three day period with my son and we'll use lots of different cameras and film.

Roger - I only took one camera and one lens. I figured I'd only have about an hour to shoot once I got there. You'd be surprised at the differences in the images. More were overexposed than underexposed. At least I've got it now. We'll see what next year brings.

I can understand you wanting to "nail" this wonderful scene, George, but taking a whole casette to do it is a bit extreme! At least you now know how to interpret what the meter tells you! Hurrah for Kodachrome! Nothing like it.

A beautiful scene wonderfully captured. I'd keep it a secret too. Lovely vivid colours and wonderful reflection. Very pleasing to view. Cheers - Ann :)

Oh, where did you get the Kodachrome ASA 25. They don't even make that any more??

That was my favorite film. Now I use Fuji 100
