James - Thanks for the comments. No...this is purely a photo taken an an annual stage production put on by the Kilgore College Rangerettes. This is a drill team / dancing group of young ladies whose organization has been in existence for almost 70-years. A purely American tradition.

Without a doubt....your best picture to date!! The look, clothes and missing shoes adds alot to consider when looking at the shot. You may have noticed that the better photos are usually spur of the moment like this one.

Good Job.

Nice capture. I like the reflections of the trees in the background also. I am not sure....but I think these are Coots.

Nice shot. We have these around here and I think that in spite of the ugly "mug" they are some of the prettiest birds. Nice sharp capture.

Ray - Fantastic perspective.....Lady Liberty is clear with haze all around. Do you think there is a subtle message here? Nice work.

Habib - He eats about 8 cups of puppy food a day. Believe it or not, these make great house pets! Easy to house train (fortunately). I plan to take another photo this weekend with my daughter for scale. Keep a look out for it and let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Habib - Great Dane growth rate is pretty dramatic. In this photo he was about 20 pounds (2 months old). In the other photo he was about 7 months old and 80 pounds. He's even bigger now. He is about 105 pounds at 10 months. I have been told he should top out at around 140 pounds at a year and a half old. A lot a fun to have around.

Susan - I am actually from Bald Hill (in Angelina County), but I travel alot in East Texas. This is located on the FM road between Jasper and Kirbyville (Kelly Farms?). Thanks for the comments.

Eb - f/45? Never seen his aperture setting. An amazing micro shot where virtually everything is sharp. Not a criticism....but I think the colors and contrast would have been more vivid if the flash were less intense (kind of a shine on the petals). Nicely captured.

Eb - A neat use of DOF. I like the out of focus on BOTH foreground and background.

Eb - Nice subtle colors and DOF. The gradual out of focus white stems lining up really adds to the composition. Well done.

Eb - Don't know if you meant to pick the details up...but I find the little speck of yellow at the center of the bllom as interesting. The bokeh is really nice. Do you use the VR much?

Thanks to all for your comments. This was a "trial" shot just to see how thin DOF is at maximum aperture. I just happen to have a funny dog as the subject. I should have named him Scooby-Doo!

Mr. Finn - Beautiful shot with vivid "textures". Exposure is just right. My family is planning a trip to Ireland...where would you suggest? I, of course, am looking for great photo locations, which based on my observations, is virtually anywhere in Ireland!

Many thanks Marcus. I hope my lens stays good...Nikon had to re-adjust the AF.

Eb - From this angle I now see the "functionality" of the bus....it's the horse barn (hence the ramp). Did the horse also lower the windows?

Nice funny setting.

Eb - Nice, original capture. I like the variety of colors (split tree trunk, horse "jacket") and sharpness. This must be a really great lens.

Eb - Not much different from East Texas! Except around here this kind of field art is usually left out by "rednecks".

Very interesting setting. Ever wonder what the horse thinks of this?

Dave - Texas is fine. I live about 100-miles north of Houston. It is fun to visit Houston, but being the small town person I am, it is nice to get out of the "rat-race".

Good shooting.

Paul - Really nice composition. Lighting really brings out the features of the statue. Different from the football here in Texas....but certainly a sport requiring toughness!

Good work. Night photography is fun isn't it?

Andrew - Nice sharp image. Really like the talons! Have you tried using a spotting scope to extend your range in shooting wildlife (i.e. digiscoping)? I have tried it with and SLR adapter with little success. I have read that it may be more effective using P & S cameras.

Keep up the good work.

Mr. Wilson - A nice, subdued image. I assume that the Scottish Lochs are all this rugged?

Mr. Belts - I assume that Scotland is a fine location for a photographer. I would have not expected the basis for this shot. Nice composition. Where did the oil come from?

P.S. Greetings from Texas!

Ms. Brackstone - Absolutely beautiful capture. It resembles a painting with the shutter speed and exposure you so cleverly selected. Nice work.

Very nice colors and details. Isn't it amazing that you can set on f/32 and parts of the wasp are blurry!
