What a smile! I wouldn´t want to brush his teeth...although I did go out a couple of times in Thailand to touch some crocodiles sitting there beside them. Awesome experience but crazy when I come to think about it, as they move so fast. I know how to "read" the signals from many animals, but not so much a crocodile.
Best wishes
Annemette

~~GRIN~~ Marlyce... Maybe one of the below... Looks to small for a kangaroo so guessing a wallaby or pademelon......

We ( supposedly Bek ~~GRIN~~) looked after an orphaned young grey kangaroo joey quite a few yrs back when we lived in the mountains... Hunters had shot the mother...

Kangaroos and wallabies are marsupials that belong to a small group of animals called macropods. They are only found naturally in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Most macropods have hind legs larger than their forelimbs, large hind feet, and long muscular tails which they use for balance. The word macropod actually means 'big foot'. Kangaroos and wallabies are most active at night, dusk and dawn.

All kangaroos and wallabies have forward-opening pouches. Other marsupials – wombats and koalas – have pouches that open backwards.

The kangaroo superfamily consists of two family groups. Kangaroos, wallabies, pademelons and tree kangaroos make up one family, while rat-kangaroos, bettongs and potoroos make up the other. There are 45 species of kangaroos and wallabies...
Hope this helps...

Onie...

Annemette......I knew that you would not have come to LA without calling.......next time I know you will and you are always welcome to see the private zoo.......will have to see how Henry gets along with the corgi's one day too. I know Henry has a drool issue......but I have a cat can out-drool Henry any day....no joke!

Thanks Shelby....we live about 15 minutes from downtown LA and only 5 miles from the airport. We seldom see the planes and can not see the buildings of downtown.......I grew up 40 miles from here and always knew if I could see the mountains I was facing North and the beach was South.......Now I need to know where the streets have names that are numbers instead of names.....lower numbers go north.........I need 40 acres with cows and sheep and pigs and.....

Thanks Annemette.........the tigerstriped item is actually another tiger laying in the shade........it later got up and participated in the keg party. The last time we had gone to the zoo I only had the point/shoot Olympus so I wanted to go back with my Nikon......This weekend I am going away with the girlfriend that took me to Tahoe....hopefully more pics when I come back.

THanks for sharing this, Marlyce. My husband and I were in L.A. for one day and although going also down town to the skyscrapers nothing really felt like down-town in that city that is expanding over such a huge area. A bit confusing really. We went around by train and bus not really knowing what to do or see having little time. Amazing that anybody can find their way around with all these streets and freeways with all the lanes:-)
Anyway a beautiful shot from the car!
Take care
Annemette

It seems like you and Doyle have some nice trips to the zoo from time to time:-)

California in general has always had so much appeal to me. (But I have never been farther south or west than Alabama though). So in thought it seems like such a big, inviting, sunny, warm, beautiful place (& it probably is). & Your picture portrays the fringes of that, because how else does one generally arrive at a new place but via the interstate. So it is also thought provoking, makes me wonder what the cities & neighborhoods look like.

Thank you Shelby. I was born right here in Southern California and have never lived any where else for more than a month. The weather here is awesome (just watch the New Year's Rose Parade---any year). There is bad...but tell me one place on the planet that does not have that. I try to look for the positive and as long as there is more positive than negative....I am a happy camper. Glad you could see a new perspective for LA....Kiss Pokey for me.

Hi Marlyce, do you know if the Keg had any ale in it?, maybe it "did" and that is why they are not laying around anymore. Well captured, no pun intended,

You always here so many things about Los Angeles, good & bad. Thanx for posting this, especially being an entrance picture into the city. It's like putting a face with a name so to speak. I guess that's what makes this so interesting. You always see so many other images of LA, but not the ones like this.

Good to hear that this a rescue area. I guess my misconsception came in after seeing the geese and ducks around here.

Most of the public parks, and any other private lakes/small bodies of water are being overrun by Candaian Geese. They are very used to human contact and the ones in the parks expect food when they see humans coming.
Glad to see this is not one of those situation where human contact and causes these birds to become reliant on human contact for thier daily nutrition.

Thank you very much for this info, Marlyce. Both of you take excellent photos with the D50, but also because you have the eye and skills for it. I see some with very expensive cameras taking not very good photos and the other way around. It´s nice if both having the eye and a good camera:-)
Maybe I´ll have a closer look at that camera.
Thanks for helping me:-)
Have a nice weekend
