The lighting is perfect.
I maybe wouldve concentrated more on the hand and sand and got the leg?? out of the background.

In the sky is a bird that was flying between the two towers as I took the shot...perhaps it's a bit blurry. Does it detract? as in, does it just look like a speck? I had the impression that it was large enough to not be confused with dirt on the slide.

Marc,
Nice work. I can appreciate the time and effort one can invest in manual stitching.
Take a look at the stitches I have uploaded at http://www.usefilm.com/image/541230.html and http://www.usefilm.com/image/545270.html. Both were made with a stitching software that came with my little Canon S100 and S400 cameras. Technically not free, unless you are in the market for such a camera.
There is a public domain software I use for image manipulations that offers stitching, though I have not tried that feature. The software is ?Irfan View? and you can get more information and download it at http://www.irfanview.com/

You have great lighting with good tones. I just feel lost. It would be nice to see the surrounding of this reflection (the ground if it's a puddle). Good attempt.
