Tremendous composition and graphic detail. The texturs add a lot too.

Definitely worth a trip back.

Hi Roger, I wonder what the fished version was like ;-)

As Chris says this is all about the textures, compositionally it struggles a little, but the textures are superb. I remember another waterwheel you showed us, are there a number of these around you ?

more than a bit of Spracklen pixie dust sprinkled on this ;-)

I like it though. The gull maybe needs toning with the landscape.

Good work

Spring os almost sprung Roger, well it can't be far away. The birds are looking for nest sites, the hawthorns are in bloom and theres snow on the ground - must be spring in blighty ;-)

You know - those white trees remind me of one of Ansel Adams images 'Aspen'. There could be some nice themed images to be had at this spot. Definitely worth a trip back.

Hi Chris,

Sorry you don't feel too good, ope you are feeling a little better today.

This is tremendous, it could be sold as a postcard without any trouble. I know its not the sunny holiday style image, but it really says something about the place. I love the mist and the receding hills. One of your best in my opinion.

Regards

Until I read Roger's comment I would have said perfect, but when I went back and looked I think I might agree with Roger. Just a tad more brightness might be enough to make this really jump. However I do like the saturation of the reds and the sky, terrific.

Terrific, the tide being in probably forced you onto the higher shore, and maybe thats this images big gain. Everyone (me included) has this castle set against a low tide taken from the beach. This is just a little different. If I had to make one comment it would be that the life belt might have been better a few feet to the left, but I am not complaining. Its still a great shot of a spectacular place.

I'm sorry Chris, this is terrible. No thatched cottage, no boats, just what were you thinking ...

Seriously good though ;-)

This has to be one of the nicest shots I've seen in a while. Shame the sky didn't co-operate, that would have been just perfect.

Hi Kevin,

I love these rollong landscapes, to get the best out of them you need low light. This feels as though it was taken later in the day, maybe a return in early morning would provide another masterpiece from you.

Excellent, one thing I would change though, I'd have the dog and the walker heaing into the shot and not out of it.

Very nice, you could also try spraying a few droplets of water onto the feather to give it added interest.

The issue I have with this version is the wasted space at the top. There's a half of the photo which isn't doing anything, in fact I think it unballances all the detail in the bottom half.

Crop at least half of it ;-)

K

Just read Chris's post, and I see the lean too, in fact I saw it in the other version. I put it sown to the path not being level and therefore an optical illusion.

Hi Roger,

This one is nice, maybe needs a little cropping off the top to lose some of the blandness of the skay, and also to move the horizon up to the 1/3 line.

The perspective is excellent though.

Manu,

I'd also suggest cropping some part of that black base, it make the image feel heavy. I would probably also experiment with placing the two cooling towers off the the left or right of frame too.

I'd give this 10 out of 10, really superb. The expanse of the sky and that little boat for the eye to drop onto. Great work.

Its a bloody tardis that hut. Its been everywhere ;-)

I do wish they had built it somewhere else though. Its in an awful position for photographers, no wonder you keep adding it in your composites. This one really is great, theres no telling that the hut wasn't there in the first place. Well done.

Oh yes, the sweep of the ballustrade is very eye catching, and the tones compliment it very well. I'm guessing a Spracklen Gull ?

Have a good dy tomorrow.

Hi Chris,

its dead simple - take a series of images using the same settings and ensure you use a tripod (obvuiose reasons).

then in PS copy each image into new layer in a single PSD. So for this I had 1 PSD with 10 layers, each with a different version of the image on it.

Now the trick:

Keep the bottom layer at 100% transparency
Layer 1 is set at 50%
Layer 2 is at 33%
Layer 3 is at 25%
... 1/n where n is the layer number

the formula to use for the transparency is the reciprocal of the layer so the 10th layer is at 10%.

Job done. Enjoy yourself ;-)
