The Carcharocles megalodon is in a debate about being the ancestor to the Great White Shark. But they are not similar.
The diagnal length of this tooth is 3 3/4in. The shark would of been around 35-40 ft Long!!! I am glad I did not see that one, But I did see a few smaller one while I was snorking.

Very interesting, I know what you mean. studio light are $$$$$. I had 4 that need to be replace. I can't aford too. So I just shoot outdoors and use reflectors.
