Very pleasant and interesting. I like the low key approach and the interaction of lines, textures and the shapes of the shadows.

Wow! Superbly captured floral macro. The way the out of focuse petals light the entire background is simply splendid.
To cap it all off, the details and sharpness are top-notch.
Into the favourites, Joggie!

Alper,
She is very well highlighted by her shape, breaking up the otherwise very symmetric composition, as well as that splash of lighter tone background.
Very good work with timing and placement.

Well, if you didn't posterize, solarize and do ploar coordinates, all at once, it's unmanipulated in my books.

Excellent sky and clouds, Christos.
Those boats make a very nice line of dots at the bottom of the frame.
In fact, looking at them, I am thinking that perhaps the camera could have been tilted a little more, to include less empty water and a bit more sky, placing the boats nearer the bottom of the frame.

Excellent colour and luminosity, Christos. Love the tones you achieved with your b&w.
The image is strong enough to stand on its own without the elaborate frame, though the frame is actually very nice and tasteful, if a bit bold.

I can relate to the one in this one... poor old bean, sent to the corner, just like me.
Or is this about cricket, Danny? The berry on the left represents England's Ashes wins, and the other ones... well... you know...

Did you shoot this in RAW or JPEG, Danny?
I love the composition, the shapes and placements.
The colours are nice, despite the fact I hate red & black...
But the reds are a bit lacking in detail. You say unmanipulated, so I say something dodgy happened in the camera.

Thanks, Carolyn.
It was actually 0.4 seconds, but this setting isn't available at UF, and neither is 1/2s (the closest.
It's a small camera, without a mirror to cause vibration, so longer shutter speeds are possible without shake.

A very good idea, and captured very nicely with some great tones, Mert.
Good lighting, though I think you could have benefited from a reflector to bounce some light back on to the fruit.
I like the details on the apple, just wish there was a bit more sharpness --- what was your aperture?
All in all, a very nice still-life, with excellent composition concentrating on form and detail.

Viena,
You wrote: > He didn't look asian or arab to me. > How could this face be a terrorist?
I don't know. What do terrorists look like? If he looked Asian or Arab, would that make it "ok"???
If this had been during the IRA bombing campaign, would we be saying "he didn't look Irish"?
My point is: terrorists and serial murderers, they all look like normal people. You can't tell by looking at their faces.
A man shouldn't be shot by the state on suspicion. Full stop. The shade of his skin and hair is irrelevant, and so is the presence/absence of turbans and facial hair.

What a superb image, Paul! Looks very interesting with the mist over the water blurring out the horizon line, giving a very unsettling look to the right-hand side. It almost looks as though those mountains, and indeed the boat, are coming out from some lost world. (Maybe I've watched too many bad old Hollywood films

"Bichinho"???

Very nice macro, Melanie. Good details and colours. Nice and close.
Perhaps you could experiment with different compositions also, not so much a fully-centered one. Havnig said that, the straight symmetric approach works well here.

Tony,
Mainly conventional in-camera: white background, correctly exposed for white. I did "retouch" it in PS to make it 100% white. Nothing major.

More like a nail clipper
Excellent results, I love the high key image you have produced.
However, maybe you can be a bit more subtle with the brightness, applying it more to the background than to the metal itself, to avoid losing the edges. Also, the background itself needs a bit of cleanup (airbrushing, they used to call it in the days of film in the bottom right corner.
I have some recent images in my portfolio that have a fairly similar approach to different subjects.
