What a super shot! I've never seen a Holga - only pictures taken by them here on usefilm - this one is particulary nice. The vignette effect really works well on this photo - almost like an ND filter for the sky. I like the composition - it's simple but striking, and I like your choice of frame too - it really compliments your photo.

Thanks Angelo for all the words you wrote to me. This picture is scanned from a straight contactprint witout any correction, so the final correction in contrast as needed and sugegsted, will be done in the final print. Of course, next time i will wipe out the dust from the scans...
Thanks again, Stefano

Stefano,
An interesting environmental portrait you have here. The craftsman is busy at work and very concentrated, so psychologically we are immediately drawn to his task. What is he doing with such intent?
The slight motion blur is fine: it shows that some action is going on. I also like the lighting, which is natural.
One thing that might improve may be a boost in contrast - a different grade of paper, perhaps?
One thing that you may be able to improve is the quality of the scanning. There are a lot of scratches and dust marks. In a real print, you would retouch the print. So in this case, of a digital presentation, why not use Photoshop to retouch those little blemishes out?

Angelo, thanks for your words.
In this case is almost impossible to have more details in highlights because, i.e. shines on the threads, it felt lot above the zone X.
This was a very difficult shot because of very low contrast backgrounds (various brownn tints and paints) and on the other hand a very contrasty object with shines and shades.
So i choose a underexposing and overdelepoing to raise more general contrast. And the lock was in dark chamber espoed with different c. grade... Also slightly toned... A lot of work!
it is not perfect and I know but is my best in this challenge!! Thanks for suggestion in exposure, i will try again.
Thanks again and visit me soon!!
Ciao, Stefano

Another nice detail shot. Your portfolio is full of nicely though out compositions, and it also shows in this photo, of a different subject (for you).
I like your placement of the lines and shapes, it all works to attract the attention to the small objects.

Stefano,
I like simple detail shots such as this one. You have picked an interesting subject full of possibilities. Nice work.
I won't ask you about your processing and toning techniques because I was never any good in the wet darkroom.
Just one thing: to me some of the highlights are a bit overexposed. I'd like to see detail on the threads for example. I think this has more to do with the original exposure than any processing.

In questa però la sfocatura non rende giustizia all'azione. con la focheggiatura sulle mani del maestro liutaio la foto avrebbe raggiunto livelli di gradimento altissimi.
