I'm glad you're diong some HDR stuff. I had planned on telling you to check it out, as your landscape style could render some very interesting images in HDR. Looks like you beat me to it. :)

Very nice demo shot. Can't wait to see the final posts. I took a water shot or two in HDR but have yet to process them as of yet.

I have a Dell flatscreen monitor that I could plug into the laptop - can those be calibrate like a CRT? If so, I may consider doing that.

Yeah, I can't stand when people go nuts with it and end up with a totally unnatural looking photo.

Are they really dark? Damn. I keep having that issue because my laptop monitor is ridiculously bright... Thanks for letting me know. Always enjoy how your critiques are actually useful.

Absolutely outstanding. Excellent exposure, colors, composition. Just an excellent photo.

How did you calculate the proper exposure time for this shot, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, maybe I should have been less subtle with the warning. I was all, "You did this in ONE take? What's wrong with you? You computer COMES with a video-editing program of some sort - why aren't you using it?! AHHHHHH!!!!"

Hope it wasn't too much torture.

Thanks, Mark! I rather like this shot. I think I would like a bit more contrast, though. I bump up the contrast a bit, but apparently not enough now that I look at... :( It's not that bad, though. I'm trying to decide whether or not to change it.

Hugo,

I agree with you. The more I kept looking at this photo, the more I thought there needed to be more contrast. I may end up resubmitting this one soon.

Thanks!

Meh. I've known tons of people who use that technique. It works quite well if you use the right material.

You'd probably be interested in this, then:

The guy is VERY long-winded on the video (he did the whole video in one take...), but there's a lot of good information in it on the rest of the website.

Thanks very much! It's three frames, shot in RAW, with -2EV, 0EV, +2EV. Photomatix does a tremendous job with HDR. I've been extremely impressed with that program. It's relatively cheap, too, at ~$100 USD.

This whole shot looks like it was fabricated because it's just so fantastic. Everything is perfect. Colors - perfect. Tones - perfect. Composition - perfect. An absolute priceless shot.

Straight to my favorites.

Oh, and I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to add you as a friend to see you future work.

Great work.

DAYYYUUUMMMM!!!! How did I miss this shot of yours?! This is an excellent photo, Mark. You really need to check out HDR - you'll crap your pants. ...Well... maybe you shouldn't, then - or at least be wearing clothes you're not fond of...

Definitely deserving of a BiP.

(and a METTTTAAALLLLLL Award.) :)

Glad to hear your rockin' out wit your band! Also glad to hear you're getting a chance to get out and take some photos again. Looking forward to seeing them!

Thanks for the compliment, man. I've been learning a lot of neat photography stuff recently. Finally started shooting in RAW a bit and got into HDR and have been learning ever more about PS (CS2 is ROCKIN!!!!!!!).

This is one of my favorite shots you've done. I love the fantastically dark sky and the shape of the clouds, and the overall feel of the image. The tones are just superb. Excellent work.

This is a great shot, Daniel. Good to see your style is like your dad's! I think the only thing that could make this shot that much better is an increase in contrast. That would really make this image POP. Great work!

Wow. This almost looks like HDR. have you worked with HDR at all? It would work SOOOOOOOOOO perfect with a lot of your photos. I've got a program that works fanatic for HDR, called Photomatix Pro. Not too expensive, either, at ~$100 USD. Check it out see what you think. It can do some really neat photos.

Ahoy, Mark! How's life? Mine's been taken over by school and the like. Went on a trip down to the Southern end of my state and took a ton of shots last week. It was a much needed break.

I think I've got like a ton of photos I've got to upload on here. I've got another site thing like this on deviant art, now (http://Capt-Morgan.deviantart.com). I've got one HDR shot that's pretty amazing (at least I think so), it's of a cactus during sunset, called "New Mexican Sunset". I'll be uploading it on here soon. :)

ROCK ON!!!!! WHEEEEEOOOOOOOOO!!!!
