I really like the super blurs, too. I've been trying to work on my technique for gettin gthat kind of shot more lately.

I felt the same way about this shot. Right after I took it I was like "Holy crap that's a bad shot!" I liked the colors but didn't much care for the lines. Now, I kinda like it. (I had my D100 on Aperature priority mode and it decided it liked a 10sec. long exposure and when the shutter didn't close I went "What? Are you broken?" and that's how the lines got there. Pretty artistic, no?

Glad you like it! I like this shot a lot. I really like the color and texture of rust and rusty things. Too bad there's no moisture down here. (although I'm sure my truck's chasis is happy, though!)

I sure hope you have a butterfly pavilion near you like I do. I'd be very interested in seeing more of your work - especially with butterflies.

Thanks, Todd. I was impressed with this detail in the hairs as well. I miss this spider... Looking forward to seeing her kin this summer and fall.

I love this shot. I really like the white glow in this shot. It's such an impressive effect. How did you achieve to this glow? Excellent work.

Excellent floral, Howard. I am especially amazed with the slight white glow. How did you achieve this?

Amazingly creative use of shallow DoF on an ordinary object. The extensive blurring on the bottle make this shot really great. Excellent work, Katy. 7/7

I love the tonal range in this shot. I hadn't noticed the ant despite your title for a while - I really like how subtle it is. Great work.

Love the colors in this shot - I really like photographing lighters, as well.

I did a couple as well:

I guess I haven't found a good instance for using the color range selection method. Every time I've attempted to use it the results aren't what I have expected.

Dark brown, eh? To my eyes it looks like it has a bit of a goldish-silverish tone to it - either way - killer shot. I'll have to try adding browns to my B&Ws - thanks.

I relaly like the contrast, too. I may try to darken the rocks behind - I hadn't even realized that it does that - it DOES draw your eyes up there. I wish I were better at catching that type of thing before I went and posted it... Which is why I'm here - to learn! Thanks Sally.

Pants?! That's such a freaking cool term! I'm pants, too when it comes to lighting. I just did a quick point and shoot, messed with the levels in PS a bit, and voila! She was sitting in a reclining chair that's a few feet away from windows as the sun was begining to set. I made a closeup of this shot where it's only her eye and part of her nose and part of the newpaper but like you, I really like the lighting of her hair. Thanks for the kind comments, Sally!

Agreed. I would have stepped over to the right to get a better shot but would have fallen about 60ft so I was fairly content with this shot. I may dodge some of it out and make it less distracting. Thanks for the advice.

This has got to be the best comet photo I've ever seen on here, Pierre. This is fantastic work. I'd be interested in seeing the full-res version. Thanks for sharing! 7/7 and straight to favorites.

This style looks so much like the album cover for Dream Theater - they've got some of the most interesting covers I've ever seen. Excellent work.

Perfect tones and composition. The angle at which you took this photograph from makes the bird appear demonic and very creepy. It's a great photo.
