This is a very funny image, Susan. My only critique is that the background is too busy and draws my attention away from the subject. Blurring it somehow would help, I think.

An interesting sculpture you've captured here, Susan. I like the colors. I think the basic problem of the photo is that there is too much and too detailed a background for the busts. You might try rephotographing the sculpture from a different angle so that the background is more upstreet and less likely to have a distracting background. I suggest looking at the sculpture from the left. The other aspect is that the dark faces of the busts are lost against the lighter background. You could try using a fill flash to lighten the faces up a bit.

Very nice, the B&W with tinting works well here complimenting skin tones and water.

I think you captured the mood and feel of your subjects, but between the two men is a lot of blown highlight in the grass. Also it's always a personal preference but maybe cropping the vehicles out above the bald headed gentlemen would help focus the viewer more to the subject. The dog for me adds a little humor to the image, as if these guys aren't taking themselves to seriously.:) keep shooting

This is a powerful image depicting the fragility of life. I sometimes work with elderly dementia patients and have often thought there's a good photo essay to be had. It's interesting to see the nail polish still being applied, giving the message that she hasn't given up on life. Might I suggest a tighter crop to concentrate on her (and the hands) more and a liitle increase in contrast. I find the left side of the image especially a bit distracting. Hope you don't mind.
Regards, Gary

Excellent work. Avedon did a series of pictures when his dad was dying - I always thought it was so brave of both of them.

Hi Susan, you are so courageous to dare take a photo for a relative dying person, who for one reason or an other doesn't want her face to appear in the photo, from her pose in the photo,I guess she thinks, she is not well prepared for the shot, but look to her in this particular shot, she have her nails painted, she is wearing her jeweleries, and a tow rings in tow fingers, and I think she is sitting in front of mirror,at the very same time she is wearing the hospital label of illness, and in front of her there are many medicines and fluids related to her illness, plus an oxygen or fluid tube connected to her nose or mouth,
I have prescribed the photo in full details to reach my point, that she is brave enough to know that she is leaving to some place, and she intensionally imagined that this place will be a party of some kind, and she is to be prepared well for this party by her makeup and nice looking, may be she avoid looking to the camera to preserve her nice looking face to the others who appreciate such look from a departing face, I hope I have her courage and her well prepared departure ,cancer is one way of ending life among many, and only braves and those having faith will defy it,
sorry for your loss and mine, and keep the good memories,
my best regards,Saad.

Susan this is a nice tribute to your Aunt. Cancer is such an unforgiving disease but don't let it get the best of you. I lost my father from cancer a few years ago, but always think about the positive about him. Your aunt knows you think of her often and miss her!
Technically about the photograph of her, I do wish you would show one with her face and eyes, esp. with the disease she has. She didn't want her picture taken? or? I hope perhaps you can show us the person she was! Thanks for sharing such an intimate time for both of you.
