Gorgeous photo Cathy, your colours are so vibrant. Looking at this photo makes me yearn to live in Cairns again. If only the heat wasn't so intense over the summer months.

This is a beautiful shot Jose, very impressive. The colours are stunning, composure is fantastic.

Thank you Cathy, it's such a beautiful location. Got there quite late in the afternoon, overcast day, peak wet season. Was lucky that the light was low enough that I could do an extended exposure. The water was running hard and fast, there had been substantial rainfall in the region in the previous 2 weeks.

Terry, what a fantastic capture - I love this shot. Even though it blows out a little your sharpness is fantastic. You either have a very steady hand or you're quick on your tripod. Either way, great photo.

Thanks Daniel, yes, I botched the horizon. Have attached an edit I just did, which is between the original and Phil's edit.

Phil, stunning shot mate! Such a beautifully sombre mood to it, eery. Congrats on the awards on this shot.

Phil, on 2nd thoughts it probably needs a little rotation, somewhere between the original and yours.

Thanks Phil, yes, it was a beautiful day, stunning beach. Was one of not many nice days I had up there, so many were overcast and rainy.

I understand what you were trying to do with the rotation, but I played with that as well, it's a strange perspective issue as the beach curves around that gives the impression that the horizon isn't level. If you look in your edit though, the mountain range is now out of alignment.

Fantastic capture, your patience was well rewarded. I love the spectrum of colours through the ionisation trail. The only shame is it didn't quite make bolide status!

I think this is potentially the best aviation photo I've seen on here, and one of the better shots I've actually seen of a military jet. Very good capture, love the leading edge vapour trails. Great shot!

What a seething mass of power - the ocean, untamable. I like the raw-ness of this photo, brings a chill to my bones and a humbling respect for the sea.

Jason - great shot mate! Congrats on the PoD! Your DOF and exposure is fantastic - loving the light/shade blends.

I'm no cat person *sneeze* but that is a beautiful cat.

I like this shot a lot, feels like that moment just on dusk when the light is flat and sometimes warm, a storm is brewing and you're trying to make it home before the clouds unleash their power on you.

Very nice capture.

Rich, what a wonderful photograph! Looking at this it's easy to overlook the predator behind those eyes, you've captured a wistful moment beautifully. Fantastic exposure, perfect DOF. Congratulations on your award.

What a stunning photograph, so moody, yet so tranquil. I can imagine sitting on that jetty mourning the loss of a loved one and finding peace as my sorrows are absorbed by nature. And you really can't beat Velvia for its gorgeous saturation. Congrats on the award!

How did I miss this photo? Peta, this is gorgeous. The original was, well, ok, but this is very nicely done. Cropping is much better and your PS work to convert to B&W is lovely. Well earned BIP.

Thanks Jim - sadly I don't have access to it anymore, not living in Cairns these days. Back in good ol' Melbourne town.

Thanks Phil, was just one of those memorable moments that I was very glad to have my camera on hand.

As for my latest photo, well, being a photographer is all about taking risks, isn't it?

Cheers mate.

Well shot, reasonably sharp for a panning photo. Only recommendation would have been to wait a moment longer before taking the photo so that the rider's knee was on the deck and his vision focused past the apex - just makes for a more aggressive feel.
