Jeanette thanks for looking at my picture. I had this picture in front of me for 3 month before I started to like it, and when it came closer to Holidays and new year I started to see a symbol in this picture and I think this picture is good to remind us of human suffering

Comment from jude
This picture is absolutely spectacular. The northern lights are very clearly defined.

Replay from Icerock

Jude thanks for looking northern lights are all night in Iceland and what is preventing from taken them is cloudy sky and most of the time it is like that. I have now for almost 4 years trying to capture skillful picture of aurora and finally I am getting to handle it and I can tell you this is difficult to handle

From Hugo de Wolf

Hi . Icerock. SuA very powerful shot. I tend to agree with Lukasz with his remark on dark foreground, but it also creates a separation between that part and the background. That works very well in buidling the composition. I'd also agree with you, it is quite challenging to shoot landscape in B&W, but you succeeded well.

I've been to Iceland once, and it's nice to know what you're talking about. I'd love to go back, the impression that nature is so much more powerful than man,, and that mankind has to adjust itself to the forces of nature was almost tangible.

Cheers,

Thanks Hugo,

What you see in foreground is a black sand stone from volcanic eruption made from ash and if foreground is lighter picture will loose this special mood, and that is what make the different of being a article picture from documental one but if you want too se detail in this stone I can send you one in mail

B&W conversion is really hard and you need too think of many technical matter when you do that, in this picture you have lost too many detail and also picture is too gray, also horizon line is too in middle of picture, but practice and you will become a master.

Hope this have been a help too you

Istvan Kallai Thanks for looking. This picture is taken in surroundings of Jokulheimar in a very very barren are . It is possible for experienced people to ford the Tungnaa River in robust 4wd vehicles, but none without experience or travelling alone should attempt that! Such an adventure takes people to the Tungnaarfjoll (Breidbakur) mountain ridge on the northern side of Lake Langisjor and then all the way to the Landmanna route.
About 7 km west and northwest of Jokulheimar is the mountain range Gjafjoll (Helgrindur ; 700-900 m).  There it is split by the enormous fissure Heljargja and a short distance to the west of the pass between them and the Blue Mountains stands the rock Dor, a petrified ogre heading for the glacier with its burden on its shoulders
