Nice shot Jim! I like the placement of the horizon.

Long time no see.... I've been posting all my crap to flickr... :)

Thanks Brian - much appreciated. The spec is dust on the sensor - I got rid of it and bought myself a hurricane bulb.

I'd love to see your photo that is similar - let me know if you post it. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for the thoughtful advice Steve - I didn't see it, but now that you mention it - you are right on the money.

It's an easy fix too!

Thanks again!

Damned straight it should have won. And YES - I do appreciate... nothing like sticking it in the face of the modern architecture snobs. Muahahahaha

Thanks Avi - yes, there is a bit of melancholy. At weddings, I always feel bad for the father when he does the dance with his daughter. To me, it's like it's the last time it will truly be father and daughter...everything after that is different - hence the title. Sort of bitter-sweet I guess you could say.

Actually, he was probably just thinking, " Holy $hit - how much is this wedding going to cost me..." - which is melancholy in and of itself. LOL

Thanks Stan,

Yep - it was about 40 minutes west of Akron in a little wide spot in the road called "Lafayette, Ohio" - Very close to Medina. If you're ever in the area and want to see this place and snoop around, just let me know and I'll give you directions there. It was a fun place - the outside was cool, the inside was cool, the out buildings were all cool.

You're right - I wish I would have had my 50mm f1.8 with me on this walk. A tripod would have really come in handy too...

Love the new name!

Thanks Avi,

The crooked window frame is actually one slat of the window louvers that are falling apart.

If you look at the picture linked below, you will see the pipe on the window sill and the broken slats. :)

You nailed the feeling to a tee.

When I first pulled in and was getting my camera ready, this crusty old dude pulled in behind me. "Cin I help ya?"

I told him I just wanted to get a couple of pictures because the place was really interesting - and asked if it was ok.

His reply? "Yep" then he turned around and left.

Very creepy. Even tho this guy kinda said it was ok for me to be there, I don't think he would have been ok with me snooping around inside. I think he thought I was just getting pics from the car, so yes... the whole time I was there I paid close attention to the driveway.

Needless to say, it was enough to freak my girlfriend out, so I had to hurry up and get my shots and then move along...I'll be back tho.

Yep! This place was great... the inside was destroyed, the outside was destroyed. The out-buildings and barns all had cool stuff in them. Each building was a treat....I'm sure I'll be making a second trip to this place. You'd LOVE it! If you're ever in Ohio, let me know.

And I almost forgot to mention... I was standing on the ground and shot this at 18mm (plus I'm a bit on the tall side)
