It's me again. These pink reflections are very pretty. It is different seeing the reflections on ice as opposed to water. Tis looks like a pleasant dream. When I noticed this was from Nunavut I had to have a look at some of your other shots. My son spent a year in Iqaluit, so I have an interest in the area. MAry

I don't often get a chance to view a complete solar halo, especially with no interferences as yours is with the open, unobstructed horizen. A couple of years ago I did while at the lake and I totally blew my pictures. I have been waiting for another one thinking that as I know a little more now, I may be able to capture the scene better. I love yours. You even have a faint Tangent Arc--neat. In my Nature's Spotlight image, I did catch quite faint Sun Dogs. However, the total halo was not visible. I did enjoy the lovely Sun Pillar for sure. You might like to look at this web site. It has a lot of interesting information about atmospheric phenomina. Here is the link to the one that shows what you have captured in your lovely image. http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halosim.htm MAry

I really like how you have captured the details of the Moon showing just how it would look when viewing. My camera can't get these results. I love the simplicity and majesty of this shot. MAry

Hi Alison... oddly enough, I am back up in this area, though the sun isn't too high in the sky yet. The blizzards (or at least very strong winds) have been non stop the past 4 days. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Gary

Hi Deb... hmmm, well, Churchill comes to mind as one of the best areas to see polar bears. Of course, one is usually on those tundra buggy's and may not get the best view of them. One can always go up to one of the more remote communities and hire locals as guides, though that can be a bit pricy with no assurance that one will even see any bears. Southampton Island, Wager Bay and Arctic Bay are places that come to mind. Of course I heard that there were lots of bears within ~100km of Kimmirut on South Baffin last summer... For scenery, Arctic Bay is hard to beat! Good luck with your plans and thanks for the comment. Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary, thanks for your recent comments. I would kill for a polar bear photo like this! Any suggestions on tours? I have been to Yellowknife a few times, but that is all. Would like some wild and remote views like yours. Regards, Deb
