Thank you everyone for your comments... I have been pretty bummed out lately because, while the event gigs have helped to pay for my "habit", they have not really given me much of a creative outlet. The fact that I was able to combine the two in this picture, and that you all took the time to appreciate it really lifted my spirits, Thank you, again.

What a catch! The tones are wonderful, and the theme says so much.

Alisa,
The feel of these three images together is wonderful... they flow into each other and let the viewer into what seems to be a private moment. Very well done!

The colors are very pretty... and the sky outstanding. The car at the far left frame seems out of place and it feels like the image is tilting slightly to the right.

Beautiful abstract.... the textures are fabulous and the light to dark contrast between the leaf and the background is what gives this image so much character. Really well done.

Lovely tones and expression... the tear in her scarf says as much as the expression. Very well done.

Looks like a collage! The movement in the individual panes of glass is fantastic. Very well seen!

I like the tones, the composition and the subject very much... but the people in the background distract for me. A simple composition of just the performer on his ladder would have given the subject weight in my opinion. Well captured, and black and white is perfect.

Oh my... I bet this is beautiful in a large print... the purple enhances the details of the wings very nicely... well done.

I like the darker tones of this image, however, I would like a little more light to the eyes to bring out the intensity of his gaze.

Steve,
The primary effects in PS were achieved by adjusting contrast/levels, tri-toning (to get the blue tones), and then adding the border from Photographic Edges. Of course a USM was added to sharpen it up a little after re-sizing. The original was shot in NEF format, so the amount of detail available to work with was incredible.

What a wonderful landscape... the colors are spot on (not grossly oversaturated as is often seen) and the exposure works well to enhance both the foreground and background elements. I will attribute the blockiness of the shadows to the scanning and translation to jpeg format. I would have liked to see the church a tad bit sharper, but otherwise, very nice.

Very pretty, the DOF is great and so is the composition (one of my favorites for this type of flower) It maybe little underexposed for my eye, but is well done.

John,
You are very close This is a rock... however, it actually is a long exposure of a rock in a stream, therefore the highlights and low lights are caused by the water rushing by.

Thank you Steven, John and Eric for your comments.

I really like the idea of this... and I think you did a fantastic job. I would like to see the flower "pop" a little more with maybe a tad bit more seperation between the base of the real flower and it's reflection done with lighting. Again, I like it! Very neat idea.

Kathy,
With regards to what Kim was saying... here is one example of how the red background really pops the greens out on the apple - http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=10517. It's not the greatest image, and it's a little different style... but just illustrates the use of red as the complementary color.

You have a great start on this, I would really like to see more.

How cool! Alisa... I really love the feel of this! Tones are great and so is the mood. Playing with plasic cameras can be a blast (unless you are me and just throw the da** thing into the trunk) Well done!

Elizabeth,
I apologize for not putting PS comments in... yes, this was originally a color print that I applied a desat layer to the background. I have attached a different shot that is still in color.

Very different take on the usual flower picture... the colors, shading and composition all come together to create a unique and wonderful image...

Alisa,
A great save of a not so great original!!! As always, your perspective on things is what gives life to the image. Well done!

A great lesson in this photo for everyone... When all else fails and nothing new is coming out well... go back to what you have taken before and play with it to see what you could have done differently in the shot... pay attention to all of the little things you do in in PS, the cropping, the contrast, the selective focus adjustments, etc... and then try to apply them in the next shoot "in-camera".

Sujit,
Attached is the original color version... while I thought it was pretty... in my mind, it is not as dramatic as the black and white.

I really like the reflections in the water... and the pinpoints of light that are the stars are a "great touch"... i have had the same scanner for about 9 months now, and while it gives excellent results (after some practice), i still don't get all of the detail in my scans that are in the actual negative (or slide)... even so, I really like this image... the dark contrasting with the muted light of the aurora definately works. Well done.

The highlights on the tree are what really add to this image... the sepia was a good choice to accent the lights and the darks...

Nice catch... a little too much blur in the upper right corner for me, but that is just an opinion. I am sure the bride and groom are very happy with this, as it is a well done catch.
