Another great shot. I assume you have a separate portfolio for your trip?

Nice eye to catch this one! The wall appears to be in motion from top to bottom (or vice versa).

I really don't think this one deserves a critique as far as image quality. Your testimony says it all.

Great composition with boat in the background. The girl is really having fun. I see why you were having to clean the camera equipment daily.

Like the depth of field. Subject is in focus while vegetation on fore- and background is blurred.

I get the impression from your shots that the Fillipinos are warm people! Love the colors.

Nice shot Ray. I guess the wide open aperture resulted in its' soft look? Her eyes dominate the shot.

Thank you for your comments. When I get home tonight I am going to play a little more with this image. I am also going to post another portrait of a different lady tonight and I will keep you comments in mind when doing so. I REALLY appreciate these types of comments. I am not offended in any manner. Thanks!

God bless,
Ray

I am going to add a very quick PS adjustment of contrast to show what I mean. Honestly, I don't think I did a very good job on my adjustment. Perhaps you could play with it if it interests you.

All I did was a levels adjustment and then did a little dodging on the resulting hotspots.

I hope you do not mind that I tried to work with your lovely image. If so, please accept my humble apologies.

Wow! This portrait really illustrates a noble spirit. This woman, despite her difficulty with her eye, appears distinguished and proud. I like how her hair falls softly around her face, like a natural frame. I also like the position of her head...not quite a direct gaze, but still very connected with the viewer.

My only small nits are these: I would like just a bit more space on the bottom so that the entire neckline of her sweater was visible. It would help complete the compositional frame around her face. Additionally, I would suggest you try to increase the contrast just a bit and see if it makes a stronger photograph. Here, and perhaps it is just on my monitor, it seems too low in contrast.

Overall this is very strong. I'm so glad you posted this image!

Really very touching, I am a Filipino and I feel what you feel and I know what mean. Poverty here is getting worse and I am a witness to this. The number of people who are in great need are getting larger. As an individual, there is a lot that can be done but much more if you can join some NGOs that are doing a good job in helping these people.
" we can do no great things, only small things with great love"
I appreciate your concern and thank you for posting this wonderful photo...
God Bless...

Ray,

A really nice photograph...it has a wide range of colors and I like the fact that you still got some reflection from the water.

Best Wishes,
Chuck

Thanks for the comment. I too wish it was a bit sharper. I shot it at f/22 to help cut through the fog.

Thanks for the comment Laura. Yep, it's real fog, the long exposure time with nd filter helps give it that look, which, quite frankly, is as my eyes saw it. Thanks!

Fog adds drama to this picture, nice color. But my eyes are looking for more sharpness - may be smaller aperture.
