About
The poor are all around us. I have often thought to myself, "What can I do about it? I am just one person. I can feed this one in front of me, but I can do nothing for millions of other hungry people."
As I result of this thinking, I have often done nothing. I have learned that God did not place millions in front of me, but rather one person or one family at a time. I may not be able to do much for the whole, but I can feed the ones God places right before me.
This family, with blind mother, was on the streets of Dumaguete in the Philippines. I can't truly do much for them...unless I realize that feeding them, even if just one meal, is doing much.
The penitential practices of Lent are almsgiving, prayer and fasting. Take a moment, realize the humanity of this image, and then pray for them.
May God bless them and all who find themselves in like conditions.
A very strong, emotional image Ray, Very well captured! Even if only a few people so far, have read your explanation in the about section, and viewed your image. I think you can feel a little better knowing you have done something to make people aware of this situation. That is much more than most people do. Andre
Really very touching, I am a Filipino and I feel what you feel and I know what mean. Poverty here is getting worse and I am a witness to this. The number of people who are in great need are getting larger. As an individual, there is a lot that can be done but much more if you can join some NGOs that are doing a good job in helping these people. " we can do no great things, only small things with great love" I appreciate your concern and thank you for posting this wonderful photo... God Bless...
