Hey dear-its been a while:) gorgeous composition. When you think about the numbers of people who took brooklyn bridge as thier photo-theme its amazing that youve still managed to find a different angle/perspective. compliments

What a lovely constuction, what a great architectural heritage from past. Very nice pretty most famous bridge from N.Y. city, great photograph. Very exciting lines and details, love the well toning sepia capture. The colums and cables looks like a monumental statue, very strong composition. The fine pretty cables & steel structure very strong contrast against the standing monument columns. Very nice/strong contrast, great/well seen! Excellent point of view, very interesting diagonally composition. Very well done dear friend! Lovely one, very nice one! Thanks for sharing dear! Congratulations dear Ina!!! 7+++
My best wishes! Robert

Thanks Aram, it's sometimes the little people that make a picture more interesting! I have many pictures that I have overlooked, and sometimes I re-discover aspects that I didn't think about when I looked at them fresh.

Great details and again the nice contrast of modern-steel and ancient-stone. Can't ignore the scale, indeed! Nice picture. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mark, and thanks for your great comment. I'm not sure if I should have left the vertical shot intact, rather than cropping it square, because it showed even more of the massive wall vs the scale of the people. I'm not quite ready to use the vertical format for posting (yet) :) I think it's harder to see when scrolling up and down, as opposed to the square or horizontal. But I have a few vertical shots I'd like to post - maybe soon. Thanks for your great observations, best regards, Ina

Hi Mark, Any history of NY - I think - brings to mind the struggle of immigrants in the 19th and early 20th century arriving by boat to Ellis Island. Being one myself (to Canada), I truly welcome your great insight. Best regards, Ina

Awesome shot. This captures the sense of a very great mass and stupendous strength. The scale is well revealed by the figure at the rail in the center of the shot, a neccesary element in representing the shear size of this structure. An interesting use of the PS filter. At first glance I neither liked nor disliked this choice, but in looking at it more deeply I think it does a lot to focus the eye and I'm not sure I'd have noticed the figure I mentioned above in a straight B&W view. I also like how the gradient saturates more ()or appears to) toward the bottom of the shot, which is more interesting than a simple light to dark gradient. Very clever and very well done, Ina.
Best, Mark

Well the stone masonry reminds me of ancient architecture. The combination of stone and modern ironwork is something I've noticed about New York. This photograph gives me the impression of massive scale, of ambition, and the dreams of immigrants. It's a tribute, I think.

Ina, A lot of those old things like buses or trucks look great when they are de-saturated right down to almost B&W too. That seems to add a nostalgic look to the images too. Andre

Hi Andre, I will post some images of old buses I've shot last fall. The colors just didn't seem interesting, and somehow the sepia or B & W tend to match better with the age of the subject. In museums they used to paint all the walls white, until they researched and saw that in past centuries, art was exhibited on dark or brightly colored walls. That is an example of matching the exterior treatment to the subject. I think it's the same way with pictures :)

That is nice of you to say about my old images Ina! Thank you! When I originally took a lot of those old truck and broken down car images, I was inspired by some other photographers at the time that were doing similar things. Since digital has come along, I have given a lot of them some new "old" life if you know what I mean. I love fooling around with my old negatives and prints in Photoshop. It has opened up a whole new world for me. I also enjoy taking the new digital shots and turning them into something that looks a little ancient too. Andre

Thanks for your nice comments, Andre :) I have a great number of pictures from NY that have never been posted, because I didn't think of post-processing them, and they seemed to dull and grey in the original color. Certainly your B & W portfolio of vintage transportation has inspired me :) Best regards, Ina

Thanks Bob, you're right, the people add a sense of how big those blocks of stone are - similar to the ancient temples :)

Very compelling image, Ina! The people in it do lend well to the scale of this landmark. I also love the toning, it gives a real ancient look to the blocks.

Ina, I think you are under-rating this image in your about. It is really quite impressive. I like the toning you have chosen for this one and the other of the Brooklyn Bridge. It's that timeless look that comes across that I like. Andre

Nice lighting Ina. It's an amazing structure with an awesome story behind it. I must admit I didn't even see the people until I read Ann's comment. That is great! Really giving the sense of the enormity. Nice one Ina. Susie

Ina, the image is a cool frame share between the steel mesh of the bridge and the ancient stone look like pillars. Great balance of the main composition factors, great monochrome tones and lights outlining the frame most important elements. Cheers, n.j

A good strong composition Ina with nice tones. I love the lines carrying my eyes in all directions. The diagonals and verticles of the supporting cables and the horizontals of the stonework and bridge itself. The lighting takes me right to the centre of the image leaving enough dark above and below to allow the eyes some time to contemplate the history of this classic bridge. I like the people in there for scale. They are there but their presence is so subtle they don't distract from the image in any. A very moody image Ina very well captured and presented. Nice work.
Thanks you also for your kind words of congratulations for my making the FP again. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. haha
Cheers - Ann :)

Like the sepia tonality and the hugeness of it all, as I can compare it with the size of the few people on the bridge. A beautiful contrast between the the upper stout part and the lacy ironworks pattern in the lower part.I believe it must be really a site to see! Love from Gabriela
